Topic: Ceriatone Overtone

Hey everybody

Recently Ive been looking at an amp company called Ceriatone. I guess that they basically make replicas of well known amp models, occasionally witht their own spin. The one I really like is called the Overtone, which models after a Dumble. As we all know, only one man on this website could ever afford one of those big_smile I know that Joe uses Dumbles sometimes. From the videos Ive seen, this amp can really deliver the "Joe Tone."  The problem is that these amps arent really sold in stores, so I cant try before I buy. So what do you guys think? Any cab suggestions would be greatly appreciated as well!

Cheers!

Re: Ceriatone Overtone

A couple people around here have Ceriatone... I've never heard a bad thing about them. They have a lot of different clones including the Silver Jubilee - joe's favorite amp.

If you are looking for a DIY Marshall Clone in the US, I'd suggest Metropoulos out of Michigan. My bro has the JTM45 clone and its the bomb.

Re: Ceriatone Overtone

Never tried the Overtone - but I have their "2555" and I have to say, it's completely stellar. Build quality is A+, and sound quality is excellent. In my experience, a good youtube clip sounds pretty similar to what their amp is. If the sound you want IS definitely whatever model they are copying, you'll get that sound from their amps. Just make sure it's what you want, because they can get rather pricey smile

Re: Ceriatone Overtone

I have a couple of Ceriatone amps including the S&M OTS, JTM45 BB combo, 5E3 and my favourite the Jubilee 2550. They're excellent. Built quality is second to none, fantastic customer service and the amps are so affordable I have six of them.
Highly recommended. Bear in mind, you'll need a Dumbleator for the OTS amps (for the FX loop).

Re: Ceriatone Overtone

Yeah my next purchase is the OTS I reckon!

My Ceriatone 2555 is brilliant!! Better than a lot of amps put there... For the price you can't go wrong.

Re: Ceriatone Overtone

I have the Ceriatone Yeti 100 which is a hot rodded Plexi that'll do old school super lead, JCM 800 and much more gain if wanted. It is an extremely versatile amp with so many tones on tap. An amazing amp!!

Re: Ceriatone Overtone

Thanks guys!

Im a little confused with the shipping process. It appears that you can buy it as a kit, which I dont think I could trust myself with. I think you can also get them pre assembled. (The words on the site are "full working chasis") Did you all get yours pre-assembled or did you use the kit?

Re: Ceriatone Overtone

Buy it assembled from Nik and then buy cab locally, if you don't have.  I like EVM12l with this amp best.

I have 50-Watt OTS Head and matching Blonde 1x12 with EVM12l - great amp and all most would ever need.  However, with Two Rock out with same cost 22-watt models (Studio Pro, Gain Master and Jet)... why not go this route?  Keep in mind you need a C-lator ($150.00) and good reverb ($175.00 on sale) with OTS =  why basically cost is about the same as TR, just more watts of clean headroom with OTS.

Nik is great, but so is TR.  If you're in So Cal by chance, I might be willing to sell my OTS with matching cab.

Cheers!!

Re: Ceriatone Overtone

I have the Overtone HRM Bluesmaster 100W. I ordered it through a local ampbuilder (http://www.vernetamps.com) in the Netherlands who assembled it for me with Mercury Magnetics OT and I also got a custom made vertical 2x12 cab made by him for me. (http://www.vernetamps.com/index.php/pro … et-2x12-fa)

I use the Overtone with the C-lator buffered loop with a Rocktron Intellifex in it for some effects like reverb en chorus.

Speakers are Eminence Delta Pro 12A which are like the EVM12L's but half the price. A beamblocker is installed on the upper speaker.

I use it for clean tones mostly, a/b/y-ing it with a Marshall JCM800 for dirty tones.

Re: Ceriatone Overtone

Mine came fully assembled.

Took it out of the box, plugged in the required cables and let er rip!

The Yeti doesn't come as a kit though. Only a complete amp.

Fine with me as I don't build em, I play em.

If you aren't sure of your options, e-mail Nik. He will get right back to you and explain everything to you. I had multiple e-mails with him through the process and he's the best to deal with. You can't go wrong with these amps.
