Topic: Joes fast pentatonic picking runs inquiry

Hi, I've posted on here before about Joe's picking/fingerings on his fast solo runs and was wondering if i could get more info from other players about it. I see people have posted utube videos of what notes Joe is playing but they dont go into details on exactly how he is picking the notes to get them up to hyper speed. thanks for the you tube links guys and responses. Its hard to watch Joe's picking without slowing it down. Does anyone know any tricks on how to play Joe's fast runs on example songs like "No love on the street" or "Heartbreaker"? The tab book says to pick every note but it seems like it is impossible to get it up to Joe's speed. Any thoughts? helpful tips/tricks? Joe doesnt seem to move his right hand that fast when I watch his live DVD/Blue ray videos. And its hard to tell if hes using all alternate picking/economy picking on those fast runs. Does anyone know his exact picking motions during this famous fast runs? its soo smooth and effertless. there has to be a trick to it or something I'm missing..., LOL. I did notice on his fast runs that hes using alot of his 2nd and ring finger and avoiding the pinky finger alot. Not sure why...
any info would be appreciated. Thanks again!

Hello there,

Some time ago I transcribed the whole second CD of the Royal Albert Hall Concert since there are so many amazing licks.
And especially Just Got Paid has 2-3 ridiculous fast examples of those runs in it.

The first thing I had to do was to leave my pinky out completely, I was used to have it for a lot of chromatic runs but for the fast bonamassa runs it was to weak for me. When I play the runs on original speed I use economy picking but some parts of the runs are alternate picked. I would even guess that Joe does alternate picking for the whole runs because it just sounds so accurate and clear. And by the way you don´t need to move your hand that much to execute fast alternate picking, just saves energy;-)
