Topic: Guitar shopping in Nashville

Hey all-

Just wondering if anyone has had the pleasure of guitar shopping in Nashville? I'm on the hunt for my #1, don't get me wrong, I have some really awesome guitars but I still have yet to find the one that I just couldn't live without. I am considering taking myself shopping in Nashville for my birthday in march and my question is this... Is it worth the 8 hour drive? I've been wanting to take a trip down there just to check it out, but finding THE guitar would be the icing on the cake. I don't know what kind of guitar it'll be, I just want to go play anything I can and hopefully find one that really speaks to me.

Thanks,
Logan

Re: Guitar shopping in Nashville

Make sure you go to Gruhn's........they have some really cool stuff in there....:)

p/s Some of the local merchants may have some Gibsons laying around there.....about 10 years ago I passed up a near mint 80's Explorer w/case for 600

Good luck and have fun down there....a nice place...that's one of my places where I'd like to retire....

And so castles made of sand melts into the sea, eventually.........

Re: Guitar shopping in Nashville

I agree with Gruhn's..... girlfriend's brother recommended that place as well. There are a ton of options down there and very cool city.... have fun and good luck on "the hunt"!

Re: Guitar shopping in Nashville

Gruhn's is a great place but alot of their stuff is vintage and costly......but still a great place to look.

World Music Nashville is a great place to shop.

Corner Music usually has some cool stuff.

The Guitar Center is well stocked almost always,

Sam Ash used to be great but the last few times I went was more hit and miss on a great selection of guitars.

Re: Guitar shopping in Nashville

I'd check out Wolfe Guitars too

Re: Guitar shopping in Nashville

Nashville is a great place and great time.... just don't take guitar funds out with you if you go bar hoppin! ha ha... Hope you have a blast, and find what you are looking for! Cheers, Jason

Re: Guitar shopping in Nashville

Artisan Guitars in Franklin. The Guitar Center has a pretty cool vintage room.

Re: Guitar shopping in Nashville

I think Nashville alone is worth the 8 hour drive. Even if you come back empty handed.

Re: Guitar shopping in Nashville

thanks for all the replies... I really can't wait! Never been to Nashville but I really can't wait to see what it's like. If all else fails, I know that I'm going to Los Angeles a couple weeks later to see my old man, and there are some badass shops there. I will find my #1

Re: Guitar shopping in Nashville

When I was in Nashville last winter. I went to Gruhns and the guitar center. The Guitar Center had like a Custom Shop room or whatever. Nice high end Gibson stuff. Gruhns had some nice vintage stuff, but I was afraid to touch anything.

Re: Guitar shopping in Nashville

I guess I have spent way too much time in Nashville, because my comment was going to go against the grain of the other comments - If you are in Ohio, there are a bunch of killer shops between you and Nashville - Dont get me wrong, Nashville is pretty cool and all - There is a killer spot in Lexington Ky called WILCUTT Guitars - check them out on the web! But if you do go to N'ville, Gruhns is a must, just to say you have been there and to see some of the vintage items you may never see again

Re: Guitar shopping in Nashville

being a KY boy myself I can tell you that Wilcutt Guitar Shoppe in Lexington, KY is a top notch facility.  They have all kinds of stuff and have spent several years on and off as the #1 PRS dealer in the nation!  His main store is nice and all and he usually has alot of Gibsons and Fenders on the floor but the best stuff is not on the floor and part of his online store.

if you research the online store at their website and know what you are looking from that inventory then they will gladly bring those guitars over for you to play or they will let you privately view them in the other building.

I've spent a small fortune with these folks over the years and they will take good care of you once they realize you are a buyer.
