Hey Stefan
I am sure you already know this but the BigShot ABY has a built-in transformer which can be used to eliminate troublesome ground loops. Also a180-degree polarity reverse switch. Both of these items are absolutely required in my mind especially the isolation transform. Dc current can cause a ground loop through the cable to both amps causing the dreaded hum. The type of transformer used can have a big effect on the degree of isolation. I have used Palmer, Lehle and Bigshot. All are good. I suggest when you use the Bigshot that you first make sure you cables are 100% ok. I have found the Bigshot to be less forgiving when inferior cables are used. Once you know you have good cable the Bigshot should work just fine. Good luck
Cheers Ron

Thanks Ron! I decided on the Bigshot due to it's relative affordability and it has all the necessary features!! Good to hear that it's of good quality!!
My cables are of fairly good quality, but we'll have to see, I'm sure that it will sound great with #164 running into it!!
Thanks mate,
Stefan.

Hi Stefan,
Congrats and Happy Birthday! It is foolproof, I've had one on my pedalboard for about 5 years now and it works great. Radial makes really good gear!!! I really like the fact that it has a built in ground lift and 180 degree phase switch. I had a Twin Reverb that didn't like to play nice with others. I like the small footprint. I prefer silent tuning so I never use the tuner output unless I'm going to send a feed to another amp.
The only thing I don't like about it is the lack of indicator LED's but even that is not a big deal if you're just pairing amps. And if you're going A - B like clean and dirty it's easy enough to figure out. BTW Radial makes one with LED's but it's like twice the money...

Stick with the Big Shot

Hey RP!! Thanks mate!
Yeah I'm running both at once all the time anyway so I'm only using it for its outputs not it's switching... Although once I have a bigger rig I may pair two Bigshots together, depending on how much I like them! But they definitely look good and are a good size too!
I don't need anything fancy, all I know is it will be better than running out of the two outputs of my Line 6 Verbzilla pedal LOL, that was my temporary solution!!
Cheers mate,
Stefan.

Yeah the Bigshot will be great. When you do get #164 you will have to post some clips so we can hear how she sounds with your hands. You are going to love it. The marriage of the BB'2 and 3 pups with the #164 are awesome. On all the JB's I have I use the bridge vol on 3 to 4 then kick up to 6 or 7 for lead. Awesome warm output and it sings. They are awesome blues guitars. You are going to love it. Still working on transport mode.
Cheers Ron

hey man, thanks for taking the time to reply, sounds like a sweet rig.
These are awesome. the one I use doesn't light up, but the tone doesn't get sucked away either.

Probably the same one.
No batteries: no problems!
