Topic: giggity is no laughing matter

i recently broke down and bought the voodoo lab giggity pedal and all i can tell you is that it's the real deal.  all of the voodoo lab videos online showing what it can do have not been beefed up or altered in anyway.

this is the pedal I have been looking for for a LONG time......it's not an overdrive....it's not a compressor but it has qualities of both to add to your sound......

the best way I can describe it is that it simply makes the notes "blossom" while you play....truly an amazing pedal.

and here's the real kicker.....i was afraid that it would only really work on clean amps getting their OD by pedals then running into the giggity with single coil guitars.....and it really does fantastic on single coil guitars.

BUT

i was blown away by how well it does with humbuckers and into channels on your amp that are heavily saturated.  this will be a pedal that will be a part of rig for a long long time......check one out i think you will love it.

Re: giggity is no laughing matter

Cool, I love Voodoo Labs' stuff.

Re: giggity is no laughing matter

Any samples would be appreciated...thanks.

Re: giggity is no laughing matter

What classic pedal would you compare it to?

Like a Tube Driver of sorts?

You had me at "air" and "body" wink

Voodoo Labs needs to just put James Santiago in a box and sell it. Man, I love watching him play.

its sort of a cross between a klon centaur and a light compression pedal....it's hard to describe and i think the youtube videos do a good job of showing what it can do.....but when it's in your hands it just "feels" great playing the guitar.....like i said earlier the notes blossom and you have fantastic sustain without the extra gain that that i dont always want.

Re: giggity is no laughing matter

I, too, am loving this pedal.  Tons of application possibilities.  How are you setting yours for humbuckers?  I find that I have to turn the volume down low so that it doesn't distort my clean tone too much.  With single coils, I have this turned up higher (master set lower) to get some nice clean, grit going and adjust my overdrive pedals/channel for a bit lower gain to get my overall overdrive tone the way I like it.  To your other point, I tried the Giggity on a high gain/metal setting amp setting, pulled out some body for tightness, added some air for nice upper mids/highs (eliminate the ice picky tones) and my tone was killer.  I tend towards the Sun settings (1st or 2nd on the dial) and adjust the Body/Air modestly somewhere between the 11 - 1 o'clock range.  Although, darker settings with the Air around 3 o'clock sound pretty good too.  Ever tried this in your amps effects loop?

Guitar: Schecter Solo 6 Limited (p90's), Fender Strat
Amp: Blues Deluxe Reissue, Fender Twin Reverb
Effects:  Morley Bad Horsie 2 Wah --> Korg Pitchblack --> BBE Soul Vibe -->  Ethos TLE--> Jetter GS3 --> MXR Carbon Copy

How much are these pedals? Where's the cheapest place to get them?

ProGuitarShop.com has them for $149

If you go crazy and buy $400 worth of pedals, they ship internationally for free it seems! smile

Here is Jeff, my guitar teacher on one of his blog videos on the Blues, where he is using the Giggity with his LP at bedroom (well, living room) levels... sweet tone.

your settings are close to what I do....i'm still experimenting right now.....i have never tried in the effects loop.

Re: giggity is no laughing matter

Re: giggity is no laughing matter

I made a visit to my local Guitar Center In Evansville last Sunday hoping to pick up a Giggity pedal.  They did not have one in stock so I ordered one.  I am eagerly awaiting its arrival.  I have chased Eric Johnson and Joe Bonamassa tones for a long time so I hope this will allow me to get closer with my old Fender amps.

I've never played the pedal but it seems to me its not really meant to give you an EJ sound. From what I've heard of the pedal's gain on its own, its not that type of warm fuzzy gain. It seems to me more of an EQ like pedal used to bring out and accentuate certain nuances in a tone while overdriving it if need be but designed to work with a more primary drive pedal in front of it. Thats just what I've gathered from watching videos of it so if I'm wrong, I'm wrong!

And if you're looking for an all out EJ tone in a box, DO NOT buy the mad professor golden cello. I borrowed a friend's for a week to try out. Used it with a LP and a Strat. Wasn't pleased and of course it didn't give the sound I think they were trying to market it as producing. Overall, it was dark and kinda noisy. Didn't yield a clear bell like overdriven tone. Wouldn't waste money on it. Cool concept, sounded like shite.

Re: giggity is no laughing matter

i am in love with this pedal......never have i seen a pedal so good at fattening up your tone and being able to darken the tone while maintaining a pleasant clarity.......this pedal for my ears does more to to get you into the joe b and EJ territory than any other pedal i have seen.  but it's not a "tone chaser" pedal.....while you can easily dial in tones similar to what i just mentioned you can just as easily dial in something that works for you and your style.....its the best $149 i have spent in a long long time.
