Topic: Fabulous Flying Fingers Deliver a fantastic fretfest in Melbourne, Oz

Just home, ears ringing, blood pumping having experienced the third Melbourne show in as many years.  Great night, sparse stage, tight band and now it's over with Joe and the guys looking forward to heading back stateside after a month in Asia-Pac. Same same setlist - no surprise appearances by Jimmy Barnes but have witnessed the "coming of Tal"!!  Joe be careful - that Tal is taking over the limelight and you may be playing second fiddle (or is that Gibson) to Tal Bergman on the next tour downunder. ;-)
Had the pleasure of meeting Sean C - albeit briefly.  Looking forward to seeing Sean's sensational snaps taken from just in front of me.  Please share mate.  That's it - the night's over, Joe and the guys are going home and now it's time to get some shuteye.

G'day Pete,
Well...
A JB virgin no more !!
The daughter and I headed home down the highway to Geelong still buzzed. To compare the CD's and being there live is chalk & cheese. We got blown away by the power of the band. You're spot on re Tal.
Loved his solo. The song seagull caught my daughter as that was the one that dragged her over to the 'dark side'. It was over all too soon. No favs. The whole night was special... even the support act!
And The Palais... It was easy to get to and find a park. Beforehand we walked into St Kilda for Coffee & Cake... Hit the spot beautifully !
Could you tell me the songlist please mate ?
Saving the $ for the next visit ...

Thanks for the reviews. You are absolutely correct about Joe live.  The set list has been the same on this tour so just check one of the other Australian show threads. Loved all the feedback from our friends Down Under.

Re: Fabulous Flying Fingers Deliver a fantastic fretfest in Melbourne, Oz

It was a great gig - my 3rd JB in 3 years. We had front row, pretty much in the centre. I will try and post some photos later, but I was mainly concerned with enjoying the show. The band are fantastic - as mentioned Tal is a star, I couldn't believe how fast Carmine's fingers were flying during the 'Led Zep' part of Just Got Paid, and Rick adds the background colour.

I loved the little Whitesnake tribute too during Just Got Paid. Hard to pick a favourite, but the way they play 'John Henry' on this tour is amazing. Just so powerful.

Can't wait for the next tour - hopefully it will be next year.

Thanks for the reviews, and the pictures are stellar. Nice to see everybody. Love the Joe and Carmine the best. I'm sorry the other JB wasn't there. I would have liked to see a vid of "Too Much...". Now you know why Tal is nicknamed Animal after the Muppet. He brings the "fun". I wish I was rich. I would have been there while visiting my daughter and granddaughter. Oz is SO far away.    Cathy

Love your work Sean!  Numbers 8 and 18 get a big tick for Joe shots and #2 for Tal.  Poor old Rick hides away up the back behind his keyboards and is often overlooked in commentary but hell he plays a significant role in filling out the overall sound, particularly on a track like Django.  It would be nice to see him given a bit of a feature (like "Lazy" which Joe and his studio guys covered on the Machine Head tribute released a couple of weeks back - 'Re-Machined: A tribute to Deep Purple's machine Head').

Come on Joe how about it - give Rick some feature time. ;-)

Great shots Sean.

Here are some of mine. Just with a compact camera so not too many keepers but I was reasonably happy with these (I am very fussy about my photos!!)
