Hey Geko, yes I play guitar. I've been playing for about 6 years now, my influences are guys like BB King, Albert King, Joe B, Phil Sayce, Doyle Bramhall II, Robben Ford, Clapton, Hendrix, SRV and some jazz players like Wes Montgomery and Kenny Burrell too.

Re: hi all beginners and those who like to explain or just guitartalk.....

Hey- if anyone has any questions, I'd be more than happy to answer them.  I've been playing for about 6 years now and I do know a good amount of theory and most of Joe's songs, if you want me to tab any parts out for you.  Keep practicing and playing- thats the best advice I can give you- I never thought in a million years when I started that I'd be able to play some of the stuff I can now- that all came from hours and hours of locking myself in my room after school and on weekends just playing anything and everything.  I can honestly say that playing the guitar and becoming serious with it is the greatest thing I've ever decided to do in my life.  Enjoy the guitar- make everything about it fun.  Do what you want to do with it- there's no set formula for becoming a great guitarist (some of the most famous and best guitarists ever never even took lessons).  I'm not saying that you shouldnt' take lessons- aside from playing nonstop since I picked up the guitar, that was the most beneficial thing for me.  Find a good teacher and take in everything he/she says- you'll be glad you did.

i mean an example :  Major in german means : Dur ......hope its right
and minor is   in german :Mol....(i saw in enlish it´s not a good word)..i dont know what are the scales  and of curse nothin about Pentatonic sad  sorry   im half greek and the word sounds greek i only can imagion  Five string sound like this???
but i like to learn quick what it means smile
i have to serch little bit in the internet to figure out that stuff.......then its better to talk about
at the moment i like to praktice to change the ground tab`s to guit  a song
and i try to understand the tabulatur thing.......on one string its easy ....to understand but then i lose

Re: hi all beginners and those who like to explain or just guitartalk.....

Hi everyone,
I´ve been playing for ... em... 4 years now (electric - les paul, of course smile and acoustic- mostly slide guitar) and I think this is a great idea!
Let´s help each other out ... Have you tried to learn with DVDs yet?! I have seen a few and I think it´s kind of funny how they start teaching you to hold the guitar the right way and then start playing solos like mad in the next second ... I´m working on the Bob Brozman one at the moment.

Geko, thanks for the german site (I´m from Germany, too) - I will have a closer look at it .... and kwsjb1238: it would be awesome if you could teach us some of Joe´s stuff (nice and easy please ... o.k., good joke *lol*)!

Re: hi all beginners and those who like to explain or just guitartalk.....

I'm glad that helped. Next, you can play the scale across all 6 strings. Here are 3 different ways to play the scale, in the key of G. Just pick the one that feels the best to you, and memorize it. No need to learn all 3 fingerings, immediately. I would suggest one of the first two fingerings, as a good start.

For the first pattern, use your Index finger, for all notes on the 2nd. fret, Middle finger for the 3rd. fret notes, Ring finger for the 4th. fret notes, and Pinky for the 5th. fret notes.

    I included fingering on the 2nd. pattern. I = Index, M = Middle, R = Ring, and P = Pinky.

For the third pattern, you should experiment. The / symbol, means to slide from 1 note, to the next.
