Topic: Simracing for Bonamassa (and related endeavors)

I will be posting about my adventures in the Simracing world, especially when I'm running any Bonamassa related paint schemes.
To start it off, here is a link to the broadcast for the race this evening, Sat. Sept 8. http://www.glaciertv.com/
The race should be starting around 6:20 pm est / 23:20 GMT.  I'm running the BCC AFTERGLOW scheme again for my MX-5.

This is round 3 for the Continental Endurance Sports Car Series at the Homestead-Miami road course B layout.  Not one of my best tracks but if I can stay out of trouble I should be able to get a good finish out of it.  I'm awaiting ST class qualifying and jamming on some Joe.  Not a bad way to pass the time.

Re: Simracing for Bonamassa (and related endeavors)

Well, after two great runs, to start the season, it was about time for me to have an issue lol.
I played some pit strategy that almost worked perfectly, With around 9 or so laps left I was near 2 laps away from having to pit for fuel and the caution came out. Woohoo, the strategy is going to pay off!  I guess it would have had a better chance of working if I had not had an user-error moment, under caution.

I was coasting into this tight, flat, little turn and went to go down to 4th.  I let the clutch out but I had grabbed 2nd gear instead.  It was pretty much like pulling the hand brake and around I went, right in front of a line of cars.  I took a lite hit from a Mustang but then got smacked pretty good by another MX-5.  This bent the steering a bit and I went down a couple of laps getting that repaired.
What could have been a great chance for a top 5 turned into a 16th in class.

Otherwise I had a blast of a run.  I gave up a few positions as I was keep a pace that worked well on the longer runs.
Oh well, on to the next one.  This series runs again September 22 at Virginia International.  A much better track for me and it's a blast with this car.  I also should be running a new scheme for the Beacon Theatre cd package.  I hope I can keep it looking better than I did this week lol.

Superb colour scheme for the MX5. Probably the best car on the planet for value for money and fun. Have had a few mself, presently a Mk 3.5 Sports tech and with the Bose full of all things Joe, cranked up you are in heaven. If you look at the MX5 owners club there is a load on MX5 racing etc you may be interested in.

Re: Simracing for Bonamassa (and related endeavors)

I've noticed that the next CESCS race is on Sept. 22 and the final iRacing Grand Am Premier Series race is on Sept. 23.  As the new CD set for the Beacon Theatre show is coming on Sept. 25, I will be running new Joe Bonamassa schemes on the MX-5 and the Mustang.  I have one for each car laid out but I'm also putting together slightly different versions also.  I'm as yet sure which one I want to go with.  I will see how the other versions progress and may post each set here and get your options on which ones you may like best.
Here are the current versions of each... http://www.flickr.com/photos/cj2012/set … 535674843/

After these two races, I will be going back to the AFTERGLOW schemes, maybe with a few new tweaks.  I'm also putting something together for those who enjoy oval racing.  More on that coming soon.

In addition to these various schemes, I have a little something in mind to call some attention to the upcoming release from Beth Hart, Bang Bang Boom Boom.

Have fun!

Ooh, I like that Beacon trim! Nice shots. That one with the wheel up reminds me of a shot of our old full race Rabbit coming out of the corkscrew at L/S with a 'vette in hot pursuit on a car club day, and me the passenger with a white knuckle grip on the cage. You know you're cornering fast as hell in a fwd car when that rear wheel lifts.  tongue

I managed a 3rd in class and 3rd overall in one of the Grand Touring Cup races at Mid-Ohio.  A multi-class series using the VW Jetta TDI, Pontiac Solstice and Mazda MX-5.

This was the first official race with one of the Beacon Theatre schemes and I'm pleased with the results.  This was a tough international field of drivers, with the 1st and 2nd place Jetta drivers setting a very good pace.

Here are a few images of the on-track action and a shot of the results page...

If you run into ;>) or race against a guy named Chris Dembs, please tell him Andy from WNY said to say hello. Both Chris and this one kid named Viggo Mortensen, both were good close friends and classmates of mine. Way back when in the North Country.

Best of Luck. Race Hard!

A darned nice result. Only two tenths first to third, great racing!

Almost forgot to post this.  In about 10 minutes we will be broadcasting round 16 of the NASCAR iRacing Series World Championship on the Chicagoland oval.  We will be going live soon with Tim Terry and Nim Cross doing commentary.  Should be a fun race.

Re: Simracing for Bonamassa (and related endeavors)

I was able to pull off another 3rd in class with the Jetta TDI in the Grand Touring Cup at Road America.  I, again, ran the Beacon Theatre CD scheme, which happened to coincide with me getting my pre-ordered CDs in the mail just before getting setup for the race.

I started this series late in the season so I'm not running for points, but just to spread the word about the CDs and to get the best finish I can.  So far things have went well and has been a ton of fun.

Things will get a bit more serious for Saturday in the CESCS in the MX-5 at VIR and Sunday with the season finale Grand Am Premier series race at Lime Rock.  Both races should be broadcasted.  I will get more info on those posted over the next few hours.

Re: Simracing for Bonamassa (and related endeavors)

This evening around 7:20 pm est US, I will be running the CESCS race at Virgina International.  If all goes well the broadcast should be viewable at www.glaciertv.com .  This is a long, tricky and fast, track and great fun to get around. A good number of sections which can quickly ruin your race.  A lot of attrition may come into play and I hope I can manage keep it on the track and out of trouble.

I'm running the Bonamassa scheme for the Beacon CDs. Here is image with the race calendar, CDs info and even some tour dates to round it out.

Posting to facebook in a few.

I have to double check the schedule for the Grand Am broadcast for Sunday and I'll post back when I have that info together.

Good luck Chuck. I'll be watching and cheering you on from the virtual sidelines. VIR is a great course. My son was there a few times and has cockpit vid of some laps he ran in the FM.

Re: Simracing for Bonamassa (and related endeavors)

Oh well, it looks like the broadcast crew let them down again and there will be no live coverage for today.
I will try to post some footage asap and results.  I'm as yet sure if the following races will have coverage as I think the league may be severing ties with that broadcast group.  Not sure if they can pick up another which may have an open schedule slot for it.

Really too bad because there is a great field of cars in each class and practice times are pretty tight.
