Hi All
I thought I would share with you all the makeover of my JB285 Goldtop at Historic Makeovers. The attached pictures are as they received the guitar then the start of the makeover process. As Kim provides updates I will update this tread. the hope is to receive this back before Nov 20th in order to bring it to Joe at the Soringfield Ma show for him to try out and sign.

I take it will be an HM turning it into another goldtop? That grain below is yummy....

Wow, they are really taking that guitar 'back to basics'... removing fretboard, finish and all.

Could you please detail the 'extra' things they are doing to make the guitar better Ron?  IMO the JBLP was already a fairly stunning guitar so I am interested to hear what else they can do in order to eke out that extra bit of tone and playability out of it...

When talking to HM, did you detail the kind of aging and/checking you wanted.  Some tops have aging that is more extreme than others.  Also, can't some of the gold tops be more green?  Compared to mine, your original aging didn't look too bad.   Mine is more the razorbladed look.  I'm also interested in getting rid of some of the bulk in the neck, guess more "C" shaped, less shoulders.

Keep us posted on the progress.

Congrats on this, Ron! Looking forward to seeing the Goldtop... My R9 isn't even back yet, and I'm contemplating sending my R7 in. LOL! Are you going to for distressing and checking? Any green oxidation?
