Topic: Where to get Joe's Gibson Les Paul Studio in Europe

Asked this one in the 'registry' post, but no replies, so hope this will get better chance.
I see there's new batch of Studios in a bunch of US shops, but can't find anything in Europe and honestly - this drives me crazy smile
Help, please...

On the bright side I am expecting tomorrow my new Fuchs Blackjack so there should be some fun going here.

Re: Where to get Joe's Gibson Les Paul Studio in Europe

Nicky,

I'm no expert on importing guitars and others here may have better suggestions, but I do have one on its way to me in the UK ;0)

As they wont export these models from US stores to Europe, if you have family or friends in North America they could receive it for  you at their address and then forward it on to you if you must have a new one. This is the easiest way to get a new one!

As I didnt have a US contact to receive and forward it on to me, I bought a returned nearly new "condition 2" model within the same large US guitar store that wouldnt ship me a new one, which strangely they were happy to export to me in UK no problem.

I have had to take a bit of a leap of faith and buy it unseen, but I would have had to do this anyway with a new one and I got a good price of 1100 dollars. It was described as having one minor scratch on the side so hopefully this is all it is.

The same store also has three used Epiphone JBLPs and another used 2012 studio (with a small dent in back of neck), PM me if you cant find them and you want to take a look. UPS tell me I will have mine on Monday and I ordered it less than a week ago.

I'm happy with a nearly new 2012 model over nothing at all, and figured Joe would want me to rescue one that had been cast adrift ;0) I'll post my serial and any issues I experience.

Re: Where to get Joe's Gibson Les Paul Studio in Europe

Do the 2012 models have a rosewood or baked maple fretboard?

Guitars: Fender American Original 60s Strat, Fender American Vintage 52 Tele, Gibson Les Paul Traditional
FX: Various including - Ceriatone Centura, Fire Custom Shop Carpe Diem
Amp: Fender ML212 Deville + 212 extention cabinet

Re: Where to get Joe's Gibson Les Paul Studio in Europe

It is rosewood.
Fuzzface thanks for the hint. I can get it shipped from US, no probs with that.
Now, it will be quite a hit here to have the shipping cost and another at least 25% up for the VAT and other duties. Plus half a day spent dealing with the customs staff. It is great guitar and I would love to have it, but from within EU smile
Many thanks once again for taking the time.

Saw the descriptions on few sites and you are right.
Then Gibson have to fix their site ...:)
While granadillo is sort of rosewood type of wood, it is not really the same.
Baked maple is completely other thing, though.

Re: Where to get Joe's Gibson Les Paul Studio in Europe

Still no luck finding a Studio here in EU. Now there is an opportunity to get one from the US in the next few weeks.
While this may or may not work, I am contemplating on getting Epiphone JB (at least they have real rosewood smile ).
Any thoughts? Yes, no?
I used to have an Epi years ago (while they still made them in Korea) and while it was a nice guitar it can't compare to my current Gibson LP Classic Antique, which is a killer guitar.
So wondering what's the call on the Epi JB model...

I own an Epi JB and it is an awesome guitar, so much better than I expected. I have played Gibsons that are not as good. Go for it, you wont be disappointed. Listen to some of Stefans clips on the under 21 thread and you will at least get an idea. big_smile

Come on the Blades (sorry Idolbone just had to borrow your line)

Oh i think i'm lucky i got one and i'm living in France !

I've just purchase an JB Goldtop year 2009 aged today.
It's a crazy guitar this aged Goldtop.

So 2 guitars signature from Joe ?
Will i keep my Studio ? I don't know yet

@PSmith1946 ; I owned also an epi JB, and you're definitly right ! It's a good guitare, but now, compare with my custom shop JB, there realy a big difference
