Re: Gibson lawsuit issue at an end.

Ok, let me just apologise to all you guys who I've ended up arguing with over the last day or so on a matter that has nothing to do with Joe or guitars as AD3 points out.

I've had a pretty rough time with work and parts of my personal life and it put me in a foul mood, but that doesn't excuse me being obtuse on here.

I happen to feel pretty strongly on the matter of gun control, but I also respect that in the USA it is a person's constitutional right to own a gun...whether I agree with that or not (though to quote Joshua Lyman - "surely we can all agree on the grenade launcher").

So, please accept my apology and let's get back to the guitars....

Guitars: Fender American Original 60s Strat, Fender American Vintage 52 Tele, Gibson Les Paul Traditional
FX: Various including - Ceriatone Centura, Fire Custom Shop Carpe Diem
Amp: Fender ML212 Deville + 212 extention cabinet

me too, but that's off topic.

I think what the difference is, was that IF other guitar companies WERE in violation, nobody taddled on them because they have loyal employees? Or they couldn't provide proof in any way to justify a warrant to search the other guitar companies. It's all what you can prove.

I'm willing to doubt it was a conspiracy by democrats to take down a right-leaning company. If anyone could prove that was actually the case, I also wouldn't be surprised. Strongly political people are always pointing fingers and blaming. I wish they would just be positive about themselves. But I'm willing to doubt partisianship is what motivated the federal search and seizure.

Aren't I also right in thinking that the Republicans have control of the House or Senate (or both?)

I saw in your last post you decided to stop this off topic diversion. However if you want to discuss politics and or gun control email me or friend me on Facebook. You may regret that decision later however. wink

YES!

So why can't Gibson spend R&D money to CLONE Ebony and Rosewood???? Then they wouldn't have to import it! If jewlers can fabricate diamonds and emeralds, surely chemists can create ebony and rosewood-alikes. cool

Ask me about my handwound Great Lakes Guitar Pickups
Since 2010, Bonamassa fans have taken advantage of my JB friend discount = my cost + shipping. cool

Having tried a guitar with Richlite I would say that it's a pretty good synthetic substitute for ebony.

I really don't know why they're not using it on more models....

Re: Gibson lawsuit issue at an end.

Hey man, don't worry about it.  Its a touchie subject guitars, goverment, wood, and guns.  I was never mad or anything.  I have no hobbies outside of playing guitars and listening to music.  Not even that great at playing guitar but I love talking shop and theories about making guitar better.  I was just a little pissy that nobody was posting anything new to talk about other then Gibson's lawsuit.  Hope all is well and we're all here for the same reasons.... to have Joe Bonamassa blow our minds and talk about his 59' les paul's!

The advances in composite tech have put synthetic materials within the realm of producing great tone wood substitutes. Let's hope some wizard industrial chemist is working on it right now. The only barrier is cost of production vs  cost of the rare woods. I recently heard a  carbon graphite epoxy cello which had amazing tone. It cost a lot more than a traditional one though.

Speaking of composite guitars, my 25 year old Steinberger bass is AWESOME! smile
