Topic: Great news about the Joe Bonamassa Signature pups!!!

I want to start this out by saying, I already have 2 sets of the Joe Bonamassa Signature pups...both in LP's. I absolutely LOVE them and they are hands down, the best pups I've played.

I recently got a Flying V and really wanted to get another set to put in the V....but they weren't available in gold....UNTIL I had my dealer call Seymour Duncan, and talked to Seymour himself, MJ, and then they got in touch with Joe himself to get the approval for this!!

So, I'm now getting the very first set of aged gold Joe Bonamassa pickups!!!  I am so excited about this!!!


...and Joe, if you read this....THANK YOU for agreeing to this, because I know you had to give the ok to do this!!!

I had asked MJ back in Jan just after the launch (and in Feb when I was paying for them) for gold covers
(my desert burst is all gold hardware)

And MJ gave me a song and dance about how Seymour and Joe worked so hard on these pickups and that it would be a shame to put gold covers on them.
and that 59's never came with gold covers.

talk about making me feel guilty

but she did tell me that if I wanted to buy gold covers and put them on myself later then that was my choice.

Needless to say I currently have a Desert burst with all gold hardware except the pickup's .

Doug, I can understand that the pickups were never intended to be made in Gold and if they chose not to accommodate your request thats fine. They're a signature pickup, so thats all well and good. But they didn't need to give you a song and dance about it. Quite frankly I agree your guitar would look much better with Gold covers. I'd get something else for it in Gold. Can always put the JB signatures in another guitar down the road. And who cares if the 59s didn't come with gold, you don't have a 59 anyway?! -S

For what it's worth...they ARE going to be offering them in gold as well going forward!  If you want some, get in touch with MJ!

That's awesome. I will be ordering a set for my Korina V as soon as I get home from military duty... Its in with the tech right now and I had to call to make sure he doesn't restring it before I get the pickups.

The first set of gold Joe B pups arrived today!!  They look great and I'll be putting them in the Flying V tomorrow!

I wanted to put JB Sig Pups in my LP Standard Faded (see avatar) but didn't want to alter the basic appearance by putting in covered pickups.  So I fretted for months until I finally decided to ask for a variation.  I contacted MJ to inquire if I could get them in uncovered zebras.  It took 2 weeks to get a response, but she said yes they would make them for me . . . but no serial number or decal.  I understand the serial, not sure why no decal.  It's certainly not a deal breaker for me.  Will be ordering on Tuesday when MJ returns.

I appreciate the fact that once again SD and JB are willing to accommodate their customers and fans.  Simply awesome!  Maybe Joe was inspired to consider after touring with Sandy?  I am so psyched to swap out slightly harsh sounding BB Pros for some authentic '59 LP JB Sigs.

The sounded just as great as the regular version does in the LP's!  A little darker since the V is all mahogany, but still some nice top end clarity to them.

If you're interested in buying a gold set, let me know...I have another set of them in gold too.
