Re: Boss JS8 eband player

I have one. Its awesome, and As a practice tool its fantastic .It has the amp modelling from the gt10 and enough usable patches for you to have fun with before you even start creating your own. The pre recorded backing tracks are great for those practices where you need something new or when you get into a rut. I have loaded alot of backing tracks as well and don't do any practices now without a rhythm track. The menu navigation is fairly easy and user friendly
It also has a great phrase trainer feature. Its small and as you can imagine it sounds a little boxy when turned up. At lower volumes is where it excels and through good headphones the amp models sound really close. I plug a usb stick in with new tracks or new patches and it works really well. I haven't really used it as a recording tool yet but your only limitation is the SD card you use and as they are cheap these days thats not really an issue

Another vote here for the eband. Like Pete says, the amp modelling's pretty good and a good range of in built backing loops.  It's a great practice tool and really comes into it's own with being able to load backing tracks from a USB. If it's not loud enough for you it can be hooked up to a high fi system via stereo audio outs (which is what I sometimes do).  Really nice piece of kit
