Topic: A Historic Makeover

Bought a 2001 R9 from Rumble Seat, sent it to Kim at Historic Makeovers for the Standard Package, light to mid aging. In addition, nut changed to 6/6, tuners replaced, pots replaced, plastics replaced with parts recommended by Kim. Thobak SLE-101's installed too.

Can't say enough nice things about Kim, personable great guy. I'm just a regular smuck who took a chance and he made me feel like a rock star and a friend. The quality of work and detail to what they do is just amazing, and customer service just out of this world good. Guitar sounds astonishing with the Thobaks and pots, but it's really the feel and playability that blows my mind...not sure how to describe it, feels like home, like i imagined a LP should feel and play all these years but somehow they just never quite did... that is, until now

Here are a couple pics (hope you can see them OK). Would i do it over... hell yes, 10 times.

Re: A Historic Makeover

10 times over is about $40,000 are you sure? lol.  The guitar looks fantastic, a real player for sure.

Re: A Historic Makeover

Gorgeous! Any pics of "before"? Mine is outside right now, seeing if I can get some of the red to fade out. Would love to send it off for the same deal as you but I do really like the way it plays now. Though, I'd imagine it may play even better with those upgrades. Congratulations, its really cool you now have THE guitar you've always wanted! -S

Re: A Historic Makeover

I just might leave mine out in the sun rays for a couple of days... tongue

Re: A Historic Makeover

Wow, not that it was a bad looking guitar by any means before, but the after result is so much cooler. Thanks for posting a "before" shot. You ever see the horrid Nash relic Les Pauls?? Historic Makeovers should be the standard in LP makeovers, relics etc.. -S

Re: A Historic Makeover

Wow! Cool looking makeover for sure!!  I agree with Seth in that I've seen Nash etc. do some horrible 'makeovers' that look like they've just flogged the guitar with a chain flail then dragged it behind a car in the car park... but this looks really tasteful.

Congrats - enjoy that guitar! cool
