Topic: Finished with the Flexturd III by Line sucks

So I've struggled with a Flextone III for a month now.  Band practice I tried my blues jr with a pedal at practice and hands down it was better then any sound I've ever had with my band since I joined last month.  Sure am trying really hard to make some money for an Amp that was offered to me.  I've got a few sells going on.  Finally decided the Line 6 Flextone III wasn't going to give me a very good sound.  It just like everyone told me on here great for home but no bottom end, and not one usable clean tone on the freaking amp.  So I'm going for a Fender hot rod deville 212.   I was offered a pretty great deal one on one of these bad boys and I'm hoping the seller is still open to selling it.  My sells end on ebay Sunday.  http://www.ebay.com/sch/arnold224/m.htm … ksid=p3686 So if any body is interested in helping me out on this Deville here is my sellers link.

Its the only thing people told me for a month on here and now that I've practiced with it, worked with it, and gigged with it I can honestly say this was the worst amp I've ever played!  Its my best friends amp, and he asked me to sell it because he uses a new Pod HD at church directly to the sound system which I think is the only way to get a decent sound out of this thing.  He refuses to take less then $300 for it and thats without a pedal board with it!  It will never sell!

I love Blues Juniors. I used one to jam with a friend of mine's band last week. It sounded great. All I used was that and a tubescreamer. Its very refreshing not hauling around two heads and two 2x12 cabs and still getting a great tone.

I have a Line 6 Spider Valve MK2 and I must say the tone wasn't the issue, it was OKAY, not exceptional... it was OKAY... But it has had an intermittent fault which doesn't seem to be going away.... It makes a whole heap of white noise and has next to no output.... then other days it's fine! It's unreliable.... even more unreliable than my peavey!! even more unreliable than my Marshall AVT valvestate!!

I have no luck with amps...
So don't feel like it's just you! smile

My deal is I can never find a good amp that sits well with me.  I've had a lot of gear in my time but the happiest I ever was with my gear was with my old Fender Custom Vibrolux Reverb.  The cleans could kill a mile away, and cranked to the point where it hurt it could distort like a Marshall.  Sold the amp not knowing what I had.  Used pedals on it all the time and it in my minds ears was the best tone I ever had, but I never really gigged back then except playing at church, and that was too much amp for church.

nothing worst than looking back on gear you've sold and wishing you still had it.

I sold a RW fingerboard strat with texas specials a few years ago and wish I still had it.

I also had a Fulltone 69 Fuzz that I traded for something stupid that I don't even remember what it was and don't have anymore...

I've got one and it RAWKS BALLZ!

Considered a more classic Fender (Twin Reverb, etc.), but appreciate features in the DeVille like multiple channels and an effects loop.

Considered the 4x10 version, but went with the 2x12 (which is heavier than the alternative) because it has a little more bottom end bass due to the larger speakers.

And... It does make a great classic clean tone, in addition to the drive/more-drive crunch.

In short, I think the DeVille is the best amp going in their current product line for a bar gigging guitarist! smile

As for gear once owned, I could write a novel of some of the cool guitars I used to have, and wish I still had.  I just look at it as its better to have the memory of it then to have never had it at all.  Sure wished I still had that Fender Custom Vibroluxe Reverb, and I also wish I still had my 335.  Oh well time to move forward.

I'm very reluctant to sell Gibsons... yet I have one for sale cause I bought one that I need the money to pay off.
I've sold things on eBay for A LOT less than I'd take for them and got mad. Either with "no reserve" or through shipping costs, I've been ripped off a few times and lost money on some auctions. sad

Sold the amp not knowing what I had.

I sold my JCM 800 a long time ago because I was young and stupid.  I wanted a smoother, warmer amp w/ reverb.  Fair enough, but I didn't realize you could buy outboard reverb boxes.  That amp was awesome.  One of my very few gear selling regrets.

Well, the Fender reverb units you can buy (that look like amp heads but all it is is a spring reverb) are super faulty and not road worthy. I see people kick them on stage to get them working again if they die in the middle of a song. hmm

I gotta admit I like my son's Line 6 as a bedroom amp.  Fun tones and effects.  But yeah, useless outside of the bedroom

Have to disagree on that one, have toured 3 1960s fender units extensively  for 12 months.   Without any problems but we make sure they are properly serviced. If they are not serviced regularly they will play up. Unbeatable sound IMO. Anytime we have come across bands having trouble with amps and tanks, they have usually owned them for years and not bothered servicing them at all.

I think as a general rule, I'm going to avoid Line 6 except maybe for their pedals.  I'm going to avoid the pedal boards as well, but I think their modulation effects are pretty top notch for a compact solution to multiple pedals on a board.
