Topic: joe letterman rig?

i hope everyone say joe on letterman last night.  he really deserves the attention.  i hope they have him back as a performer and guest.

as usual, joe sounded great.  anyone know what rig he was using?  sounded incredible, but w/ joe's hands he could have been running a fender bullet and an sd-1.  i think i heard the pork loin.  anyone know?

Re: joe letterman rig?

I would guess it was one of those Lazy J tweed amps and a TS808. That seems to be his go to "pick up and go" rig.

Re: joe letterman rig?

I'm not sure how many of you have heard the Beano album that Clapton played on. I think Joes tone sounded a lot like Claptons on that album. I'm thinking however it was something rack mounted. Effects and all. Would be interesting to know because it was killer tone.

Re: joe letterman rig?

I heard it was a 65 Fender Twin reissue from a credible source.

Re: joe letterman rig?

He gets 'his' sound through everything he uses, it's insane!!!

Re: joe letterman rig?

JBFan1 your probably right about everybody knowing Beano. I just thought maybe not the younger guys and also not everybody is into Clapton.
Thanks Joe for the rig info. Never would have figured it.

Re: joe letterman rig?

Yeah, that amp was loud and you can hear it overwhelming the whole band sound when Dave mic is on.

Re: joe letterman rig?

I asked my local guitar center for a Ryder truck blanket JB signature model, and one of their heads exploded. lol

Re: joe letterman rig?

"Sandy" is getting so much use that Gibson is going to need to rescan and rephotograph it before they release the next Collectors Choice.

Re: joe letterman rig?

they were very good performances and I agree that the tone was close considering the simplified rig.

Amp: Firebird Musical Amplifiers
Guitars:62 LP SG , 02 FB VII, JB FB I, 76 Electra Omega, 64 Firebird V, 73 LPC, 61 Custom Tele, 59 and 60 Melody Maker
Effects: Mythos Chupacabra, Strymon Deco/Flint

Re: joe letterman rig?

Joe could play a banjo upside down and he'd still sound like Joe. Two notes and I know it's him.
