Topic: Driving Towards The Daylight Gear.

Any gearhead should get the DTTD Digibook asap. It has an in depth interview with Joe covering his historic collection and Joe's insight into collectible guitars with photos of each of the ones he plays on tour. It can be ordered online from Provogue UK and is $20 postpaid, including the killer CD! A steal!

Re: Driving Towards The Daylight Gear.

Is there a way just to get the Digibook? I already have the CD...Man if I had known about this before I pre-ordered.

No, the digibook is incorporated into the cd holder in a nice book with an introduction by Joe, production notes and photos including a list of all the gear used in recording (a lot loaned by collectors of vintage amps), thanks to all that helped him, followed by historic guitar rundown by Joe and interview. It is about 70 pages. Get the digibook and give the CD away to someone you know that is in need of an intro to Joe. smile
It includes a rundown and photos of his '53 tele, '63 Strat, '55 Gibson Black Beauty, '61 335, '59 "Magellan", 59 Principal Skinner", '57 LP Special, '32 Martin 0-17, '74 Martin D-41, the guitars he calls "The Holy Wood". What he paid and how he got them and a lot more. You know you can't live without this unique collectible. wink

Provogue usually releases a premium digibook with each new CD Joe creates. I got mine pre release just like the regular one, they arrived within a day of each other. The link was posted on the main page a few weeks ago.

Re: Driving Towards The Daylight Gear.

Hmm they didn't have it at the table at his shows, otherwise would have bought it instead of "just" the CD.

(If only I had 1% of Joe's guitar talent)

Re: Driving Towards The Daylight Gear.

Think the digibook ed. is a Euro only release for now.

Re: Driving Towards The Daylight Gear.

Enjoying mine whilst listening on bbc radio 2 all songs with interview. Digibook is great quality.

Come on the Blades (sorry Idolbone just had to borrow your line)

Re: Driving Towards The Daylight Gear.

I'm not hearing any stand out tones on this record - but that doesn't mean it isn't a solid record.
Some cool chunky rhythms.
I'm still yet to feel and hear the true separation of the guitar players that were there...such as Brad.
I think the tones generally suit the songs greatly and there are many coming-togethers of instruments to work for a particular song.
The solo for Heavenly Soul is a bit of a standout for me, because it is a Joe tone with a real off-the-cuff feel...a one take (probably) solo groove...reminds me of James Page.

As I hear it, I believe this is the first of the more mainstream records Joe can put out and won't freak the non-blues/rock crowd, because the power of the songs overall...and less singular playing. It has created a chasm from a mere parallel to the BCC stuff...and that's good for everyone.

Re: Driving Towards The Daylight Gear.

Just ordered a copy so can't wait for it to get here! But just to clarify anyway, what is the digibook? It's just a real book with a extra digital version with all the goodies right?

It is a little book, the size of a CD case, but thicker with the cover front and back of hard cardboard and the pages bound in the front, about 1/2 inch thick. The CD holding part is the back cover. Slick glossy pages. You'll love it.
