Topic: Joe's mom snapping pictures at Buffalo show

I didn't realize it was his mom prior to reading someone's review of the show in the reviews section. Thought it was a cool pic.

I thought so too! Such a great show. (Buffalo) Although I thought the Syracuse one was even better...they stopped serving alcohol at show time at Buffalo...and while I don't have to be drinking to have a good time it definitely deflates the crowd a bit. But its all relative...they were still going pretty bonkers.

I think ZERO alcohol in shows is a great thing and hope this is now a JoeB policy at his shows. I drink my share on occasion, but never at a seated concert, and am offended if some bozo goes to get a drink and disrupts my view or attention. If you need to have a beer or drink in your hand to enjoy music, I say stay home! Maybe for the hard core drinkers, a booze pen at the rear where they can disrupt each other all show long while separated from the rest of us who came to listen.

Yea I can understand your viewpoint. It seemed to be more of the venue's policy and not Joe's. Dunno though. I've never had to deal with it first hand ... although wait...there was this one time during Mountain Time a couple years ago where I swear I was going to punch this dude square in the jaw just so he would quiet down.

Agree, went to the theatre last night, third time for Phantom of the Opera (by far the best) at Manchester Palace. Went to bar before had a drink. Ordered one for the interval (small bottle). This didn't seem a trouble to anyone. As Joe doesn't have an intermission a bar closed 15 mins to start until finish then re-open shouldn't be a problem to anyone, and trust me I like a drink myself and one small bottle is as much as you need without disturbing people during the performance.

Come on the Blades (sorry Idolbone just had to borrow your line)

Re: Joe's mom snapping pictures at Buffalo show

Nice pose Joe seems to be striking for his Mom.

On the notes about alcohol (or lack thereof), and people who disrupt one's concert experience, I appreciate the points of view expressed.  We've all been to a public performance where someone got on our nerves.  But everyone doesn't go to a concert to be glued to their seat and hanging on every note.  I know, how is that possible, given the price of tickets, and the quality of Joe's performance?!?

To some extent, others must be allowed to enjoy in their own way.  Joe's putting on a show for the public, and they come in all "sizes".  Even if that doesn't always ensure a good fit for everyone's expectations of the experience.

Concert-going isn't a pilgrimage for everyone.  Sometimes bozos don't mean to be.  Though I'll admit it can be annoying when you're next to the weak bladdered, the loud talkers, or those intent on being over served.  A seated concert does set a slightly higher standard than the standing ones, but the thought of punching someone out over a transgression is a tad over the top.

Play like you've worked at it, and don't worry about sounding like your influences.  You can't cheat on them, or your practice, anyway.  If you've worked hard at your skill, your audience will know it.

I now take a gander at my  nearby seatmates preconcert and if I see some who appear that they might be disrupting my enjoyment due to inebriation, I advise them ahead of time that if they do I will be in thier face and nasty. I'm large enough and hairy enough that it works. No violence, but just a warning.... If I happen to dampen their own form of enjoyment, so be it.

Phantom is my most favorite musical by far.  I just managed to find a copy of the CD in Polish from the Warsaw show (I am Polish)  Saw Phantom when it played in Toronto.
