Saw this on Rig Talk and The Les Paul forum. Not trying to get into politics or anything like that. Just wanted to warn anyone who may be traveling with their guitar.

Ok, suppose I'm a National Act touring the globe and they take my guitar..What are they going to do with the wood now? Put it back?
Whoever thought of this Lacey act nonsense needs a swift kick in the gonads for all this garbage, never seen such a mess and to what end? Protection of semi worked rosewood fretboards? Do me a favour.

I was reading last night that the idiot (Alexander) politician who thought this was a good thing wants to go back and amend the Lacey Act again to protect traveling guitarist. Stupid law anyway.....

I've had a guitar being posted from the US to here in the UK that was using properly certified pre 2008 wood seized and what happened after that I don't know - still waiting a year later for the new build to replace it.
I'd be shocked if they tried to take a guitar out of a musicians hand which they had owned prior to travel, but with things the way they are nowadays who knows. If it happened to me I'd be livid, probably throw a huge fit and end up in cuffs :-S

Chill? Really? It's called a discussion....and I do believe politics are a part of this whole mess.
I think he was just trying to say keep it down on bashing anybodys likes and dislikes. I'm independent and don't care to get into this one this time however if the discussion is stepping on some toes and feeling start getting stepped on a moderator is going to close this thread down. So lets try to keep this a gear discussion so the moderators don't have to set us in time out.

And that (the fact that politics is a part of this mess) says it all. No need to elaborate past that. Joe has clearly stated that his forum is not the place for that part of the discussion.
I agree that it should be discussed if you are so moved; perhaps by email?
