If only I could see Joe for a fraction of those times.

  Seen him once last year.

Hopefully seeing him again will be in the cards next time around.

Re: Joe's Shows Attended...

I caught Joe at a small venue in Columbus in early 2002. The heating system had it's Swan Song years prior. Roscoe kept the Merch. shirts to himself to kept warm. Not many people there(50) but as the pattern would prove later, Great show was going to be played for twelve or 200. Still pissed I could never get a 2xl SILT shirt.

I got the bug and knew I was seeing something special happen right before my very eyes. I then went to EVERY show that the Great State of Ohio could produce. I took photos and recorded everything I could. I worked as a Street teamer and passed out lots of CD's,Flyers, etc. Made sure I could get Joe and the boys to sign everything I cdould get my hands on. I knew it would be important later on.

Almost filled the locations listed inside the Blue Deluxe Record. Working on adding ticket stubs to fill in the voids for show I didn't get to see.

The Midwest at the time, was blessed to have Joe stop by 10-12 dates a year, for a 3-4 year period. Plus the Pittsburg and Indy dates were easy to travel.

Gilly's in Dayton was the best for a year or two. They had Joe DOUBLE booked multiple times. Double Joe shows, two days in a row. Cool thing about DOUBLE Joe show was,"you had a pretty good idea you won't see, hear the EXACT same show you just saw or heard last year. He was forced to make it warm and fun a that point. It rocked ,having two full shows it you in an afternoon. I got lots of good recordings of those shows as I had amble to tune it in.

Loved the Cleveland and Pittsburg runs of the tours also. I took the wife on vaction during those times and didn't get to rub elbows with the street teamers.

Ran to Indy,Wisconsin and Illinois to find the same run of shows. I didn't feel the need to record these shows as I had already covered the past year in quality audio.

The maiden voyage of 2004 was at Cinncinati. I stayed at the same Hotel the band. It was were the Beatles had stayed when they played Cinncinatti. It was were alot of the filmimg of Hoffman/ Cruise movie Rain Man was done.Joe was as HEAVY has I had ever seen him. He was "fluffy" for lack of a better term. At this point , Joe had dropped the White Ford van and tralior attached, to move up to a propper 'RV" . The new handlers were a young lad with zero prior music promo experience and the 'One time bus driver for Black Sabbath"He was fun to party with. for sure. The promo guy on the other hand only wanted to get joe booked on Emeril with the house band. I guess to justify Joe's blues roots?

I saw all told, counting the last one, over 40 shows. Most all filmed, half recorded.I have a bunch of unused, not torn concert tickets I bought to help cover the venue in the early days. Got Joe to sign some of them. Turned into some of my most prized items.

=0|-[, Once again you forgot the Capitol Theater, Rome, NY, February 28th, 2005 show!

Jdawg, Lynch is in the low 80's fo show count by now....

Chuck O, thanks for a great trip down memory lane!  MoJoeHio was THE crossroads betwixt New York State, the fertile not futile midwest to OK-Texas nexus backin the day!  Love to have some of those early A/V projects you made!  Missed the travel shows due to work conflicts back then...

That is way too cool. I really like the old memorabilia that you have collected over the years. A friend of my from Rochester saw Joe with BB when he was 12, Bloodline, Gasolene and one other brief trio band.  When he moved down to NC he told me about Joe and said if he ever comes around, you have to check him out. Well we did starting in 02 and the rest is history.

Thanks for sharing...

Re: Joe's Shows Attended...

Yeah, it would have been great to see Joe back when he was just getting started. To see the progression in the last seven years is one thing, but to have seen it over 23 years is a completely different story. I've been lucky enough though - along with a handful of others - to attend some of the recent biggies; RAH, the Beacon shows and the 2010 Crossroads Guitar Festival.

BTW, never heard of Smokin' Joe's "Vault". Who was in that band, was Joe singing at that point, any recordings, etc?

Michael and I have talked about coordinating his 100th show with my 50th...alas, knowing Mr. Lynch's prodigious tour schedule when Joe's in his neck of the woods, he's gonna get to 100 before I get to 50. I believe Des Moines was either #38 or #39, but the days of 4 or 5 shows a year are pretty much gone for me.

Would've been fun to see Joe when he was 12!

Re: Joe's Shows Attended...

Can we have Chuck O and =ol-['s Joe show memories scanned, extracted and burned so we can all enjoy? Very cool trip down memory lane, thanks for sharing! Side note, I wish the online store would run the old school concert shirts so we could all own a XXL SILT! Of course I would buy one from every tour, well the ones I don't already have.
Pete the Cabby, I seriously laughed out loud at your avatar.....someone tell Joe to get out of the middle of the road!

I knew the incredible Lynchster was leading the pack, but didn't realize he was zeroing in on a "C" note. Not unlike yourself my attendance levels have dropped off due to the harsher financial times we're in and the rising cost of tickets. I'm still amazed that Joe's talent flew under my radar till '05 and he had been gigging @ many venues in NorCal & Nevada that I frequent. It only stands to reason that the fans with upstate NY roots have been dialed since the beginning.....lucky dogs!

I sat next to Michael at the Brighton show (March 23) and he was wearing his Bonamassa '77 shirt backwards 'cos that was his 77th show to date ... now that was 6 weeks ago so I don't know how many he's done since then ...

I'll never catch Michael ... or most of you ... *sigh*  ... but I'm having a great time!  I've seen Joe solo 3 times in the U.S., twice in the UK, and twice in California with BCC.  Numbers aren't everything!  There's some quality bonabonding attached to those experiences!  big_smile

Thank you for the props Sandy! Even though Cali. IS in the U.S. it's really kind of another world here. Love it or hate it, I call it home and have enjoyed the ride for the past 47 years! NorCal....where the palm tree meets the pine.
