Nope, I saw the original in Jack Murphy Stadium way back when and took my three small children of 3, 6 and 9 years old so they could remember it. Nothing now comes close. Tomorrow is Gator by the Bay for us. Mudbugs and blues.

I'll be at the same 2 shows, with Phoenix in between.
There's a buzz on the airwaves here in the Bay Area for the show @ AT&T Park tonight, but the Dawg ain't feelin' it.

Yeah, don't remind me of San Francisco, I gave up a free ticket to that show. I saw pictures on facebook today, there were 24 people from "A Fleeting Glimpse" a PF board, that went out to dinner last night, Dave Kilminster, who plays lead guitar showed up.
Holdem there is a pre-show meet up at Phil's BBQ before the show in San Diego, you're welcome to come by.

thanks...we were going for sushi but could change that. Also Fleeting Glimpse peeps or more a JB group? What time is everyone getting there?
It's all AFG folks and some others, Simon Wimpenny will be there, if you don't know Simon, he has been to over 100 Wall shows, in the 2010 run he saw 51 of the 52 North American shows.
His blog is here: http://simonwimpenny.blogspot.com/2012/ … cisco.html
Come on buy and say hi, it's a block away from the venue. We're getting there around 4.

Which "original" was that?

Actually, now that the cobwebs have cleared, that was around '94 without Waters and McBroom singing, the second time I saw them here. First was in Golden Hall in late 71 or so which was a great show because the hall had such cool acoustics. I remember they had subsonics that made it shake like an earthquake.
saw the show last year in the UK and I was speaking to one of the techies who told me the visuals cost around £20 million.
Well, you can see where the money was spent - its an amazing AV feast and 'that' single piece in the middle of the comfortably numb solo was worth the £100 cost of the ticket alone.
If you dont know the bit I mean, watch 2nd solo from around 5 mins and what happens at around 6:20 (although you will have to ignore Gilmour butchering the solo)

By the way, Dave Kilminster is a MONSTER, certainly one of those uber players. Saw him playing with Heather Findlay (Mostly Autumn) 3 or 4 months ago and spent the gig with my face 3 feet from his guitar. I was slobbering all over his Suhr Tele after about 5 mins.

I agree with you again and have enjoyed this tour from before. Dave is a favorite of mine and I like when he sings. He amazed me with his singing in how long he can hold a note.

'94 PF at Jack Murphy was my son's first concert too, 7 at the time. He's more hip hop/contemporary rock (DMB, 311 and Drake his most recent concertrs) obviously, but has the good taste to list Roger's Dark Side tour as the best concert he's ever been to. My great failure in child rearing is that he hasn't yet developed a love for the blues. He'll stop and watch a couple of minutes of JB and appreciate the playing, but thats as far as it goes!
WRT to Dave Kilminster, a monster indeed. My only complaint (and its probably Rogers' direction, not his own preference) he is a bit TOO true to Gilmour's solos. I think Bramhall's takes in 2000 were a bit more free to be creative and add some of his own style. Someone mentioned being moved to tears by something in the Beacon Theatre DVD...that's only happened to me once (well, twice, since it happened live too), and that was Bramhall and Snowy White playing "Dogs". Beautiful guitar harmonies.
And lets bring Snowy White into the "other artists" discussion. His musicality and tone consistently amazes me.
And GE Smith is another one. His versatility and range is awesome. I wish he played more on the Wall. His solo on ABITW Part II is diminished by the trading lines with Harry Waters imo, I prefer the arrangements where the 3 guitars solo and the organ solos alone.
Meet up moved a cross the street by pool behind Du-pars.
The Roger Waters shows use a very complicated syncing process that links a rigid click track with all the AV and special effects. The click track also contains a large portion of Rogers vocals as he hasnt been able to fully sing live for some years. I saw him in Manchester about 4 years ago and 'Fletcher Memorial Home' vocals started before he had even sat down and picked up his guitar.
The rigidity prevents any improv, but I have also seen a YT interview with Dave where he does say that the solos have to be kept pretty much to the albums.
Wow, and Front Row Fred was gonna risk his marriage over a geezer lip syncing like Brittany Spears. I'm sure Rodger Waters has the last laugh, all the way to the bank with your money.

Down, Dawg, Down. Good Dawg. It has been known for some time that Roger does some limited lip syncing, and with a masterpiece as grand as the Wall, it is to be expected, but I assure you as my 7th row center seats showed, MOST of the show is completely live, and ALL of the music is live. Yes there are some backing sound effects but all the music is live. The only reason that this stuff happens is because we now have the technology to pull it off as close to perfection as possible. And I can tell you from my 25 PF related shows (Either David Gilmour’s PF or Roger’s version) these two guys thrive on perfection.
Dave Kilmnister is a fantastic guitar player as well as Snowy White and GE Smith. The show itself can almost not be called a "concert" as it really is a story told with music and visuals.
I have been to over three hundred concerts and nothing, I repeat, nothing compares to a live Pink Floyd show. I saw my first show in 1977 when I was 19 years old. They were so impressive live that that one show hooked me for life.
So Dawg, you may not be a fan, that’s OK, I can’t stand Metallica, but to compare Roger Waters to Britney Spears is just wrong.
Not big on Metallica either. It's OK, everybody has their favorites. BTW, if I hadn't been traumitized by an incedent involving PF as a 13 year old things might have turned out differently. Then there was the room mate in the '80's that tried to brainwash everybody that entered our apartment with Dark Side Of The Moon while holding us hostage viewing his slide show of his time in Tibet in the Peace Corps, PLEASE!!! somebody just shoot me!!! No wonder he never got laid.
