Also posted on my personal thread but gonna post here as well. Version 2 of Cissy Strut. I wasn't paying attention when the guitar solo started because I was at the sound board fixing a level or something.. Thanks to the freedom of a wireless unit!

If you check out the link, any other videos listed by "helrazr84" are also by me. Either with my previous band -Blues Harem, current band Rhythm Disciples and there are a few open mic clips recorded on an iPhone.

Would love to do a jam with Jonny and Stefan and record it. It would be a Les Paul fest!

Re: Forum players under 21

Wow cool, only just discovered this thread, such a cool idea, and so many great players, love this forum smile

I was wondering if any virtuosos out there could mabye point out some flaws to improve in my playing? My main issue is that i practice unplugged all the time and when it comes to recording with a loud-distorted amp, i get intimidated by how sensitive the instrument can be and struggle to retain control to the point where i can miss a note here and there.

Here's a short video of me managing to keep control for about 95% of the video (Btw some of you may have seen me post this video before for a different purpose but just disregard that and critique to your hearts content smile

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=76jk58_vl2s

And for anyone who's willing to indulge me and take a couple minutes to analyze my playing, here is a video of me improvising off the cuff, its the most honest portrayal of my flaws as a guitarist i can offer. (If you only watch 1 of my videos, watch this one)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x6APbHI … ure=relmfu

I just need an outsiders perspective and in exchange for some tips/advice i will gladly subscribe to your channel and 'like' every video you have, a small incentive with the best intentions smile ANYONE'S feedback will be welcomed with open arms

For the record im 20 and have been playing for over 6 years

Thank you to anyone who takes the time to help me

Seth that's freakin awesome dude! Would love to do a jam with you guys no problem! smile

frazerburns19...can I ask your name? Don't like referring to people via there usernames tongue ... I watched your videos..both of them...I am very very very impressed! I now realise you're the person who commented on my video earlier haha smile ... As far as my analysing goes (not that I'm in any position to pass judgement!) I would have to say when playing with your fingers (the soloing stuff not the chord work..which by the way was very nice...very Eric Johnson)...try to really get under the string and use the fleshy part of your fingers and thumb...this will give it a very different sound than the pick...softer and sweeter! That's all I have to say really...your vibrato is great..bending is spot on...tone is great...you sound a lot like Satriani...is he one of your influences?

Yea man call me Frazer, nice to be officially acquainted haha smile

Thanks man i really appreciate that coming from a guitarist of your calibre, i welcome your help.
Thats a really good point actually, i never thought of that myself, i guess im always worried if my muting is sufficient, but yea thanks ill do that, i get a bit 'caveman-like' with my fingerpicked phrases sometimes, which is probably why i missed a note on one of the runs now that i think about it.

wow Satriani you think so? in what way? im a big fan of his (check out the Black Swans... album) although i never really learn his stuff, i guess his smooth-satch ways find its way into my playing subconciously smile never a bad thing eh? haha

Your vibrato is fantastic btw, its just as impressive as your picking runs, do you use the same motion when doing vibrato with your first finger (shaking the wrist towards the side whilst pivoting with the edge of the palm) in the same way when you do vibrato on a note with 3 fingers? (hopefully that makes sense)

Hi Frazer it's nice to have you here.

Yeah you can hear Joe really dig in with his fingers here at 1:00 ... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ke24gQxTdYk that's the type of tone I really really love! It's up to you to decide if you like it too smile

Yeah Satch in terms of your tone and vibrato mainly! Powerful vibrato indeed..one of the hardest skills to master in my opinion .. took me well over 2 years to work it out properly.

With regards to the wrist motion ... no I do it differently with my other fingers. The best way to describe it is that my whole arm moves towards the back of the neck when I do it with my other fingers ... just like Joe's in that same video as above but at 6:04 .. you can see his wrist and arm moving towards the neck instead of side to side! The best way I can describe to do it is really wrap your thumb over the top and the vibrato is coming from my tricep/elbow area and my wrist is collapsing then coming back to its original position continuously ... a little hard to explain on a forum!

Re: Forum players under 21

frazer, that beard is cool enough! I honestly can't find fault in your playing. I wish I had spent more time getting my right hand up to speed.. I have some speed with my left, but the 2 are nowhere near in sync. I'm guilty as charged though, as I don't spend the time practicing anymore like I should. BOTTOM LINE IS THERE IS NO EXCUSE FOR HARD WORK. I have to remind myself of that from time to time, especially when it comes to being a better musician.

Its astonishing you've developed such skill in only 6 years! I'm sure you're only going to get better and better. If you look at some videos of Joe from even just 4 or 5 years ago, his playing now is over the top (like thats even possible?). I think its cool you're open to peoples opinions, but lets face it; you're on the right track. I'm definitely looking forward to more videos and would be curious to know what type of exercises or what you did to accomplish basic fast scale runs in the standard "blues block" pattern. From time to time, I'll sit every night and practice (very slowly) going up and down a scale using economy and alternate picking. Its a slow process, just wondering if thats what you did. Thanks, -Seth

And thanks Jonny, glad youliked the videos. -S

Great, your take sounds like a cross between Jeff Beck and David Gilmour!!!!

Here´s my take on the original solo, I mainly tried to capture the tone from the recording
