More later, busy crying...RIP Iron Man
Such sad news. Can't find the words. This feels like family. My thoughts to his wife, his band and all Blues fans. This is a huge loss. George, you now have film of his last show. That makes them even more precious.
Possibly the last fan photo he ever took, last night.....I've been busy uploading my vids from last night....I can't believe how gutted I am

Sad to hear George. A huge loss to the Blues community. My sympathy to all concerned.

Michael "Iron Man" Burks, the great blues guitarist and singer, has died suddenly. He was returning from a successful tour of Europe and collapsed in customs at the Atlanta airport. He was rushed to the hospital but they were unable to revive him. Michael was a sweet man, hugely talented and deeply soulful. I was proud to have him call me his friend.

As I do myself nowadays, live each day to it's fullest.....and take nothing for granted. Can't imagine being in your situation G Dawg.
RIP Mr. Burks,

Terrible news….a monster player.
Wow, terribly shocking and sad news. My sincere condolences to you George and Cathy, to all his other fans, and of course his family and friends.
The final video. Ever.
I hope you're okay my friend!!
RIP
Terrible lost and shock! He was a great musician and a great human being,
Thanks Michael for doing the interviews for www.bluesmagazine.nl, the great nights with your stunning laughs, the Blues In The Schools at my school 2 years ago and after that a great show at night.
Sad you won't come back to Holland..........I'll miss you.
RIP Michael
A sad loss to the world. There seems to be a lot of this going on lately or is this just me feeling my age. Thanks for the clips, memories to treasure.
So sad news.
I'll always remember his wonderful concert in Schöppingen.
R.I.P. Michael Burks
I will treasure the times I saw him at Darwins and Blind Willies in Georgia
Definitely one of the best singer/guitarists to see
Marathon non-stop saws
His energy levels were unreal
Sensational performer
A huge loss to the blues world
George,
must have been a truly great shock to hear that news. It was your championing of him on here that got me into his stuff.
He's another who had great respect for his European audience and kept coming over here doing his thing. Today, it really is OK to have the blues......very sad indeed.
R.I.P. Michael Burks.
Thank you all for your kind words. I am touched beyond belief that my plugging of Michael's music turned some of you, my Bonabuds, on to this wonderful player.
My 'last' video (link higher up here) has attracted 200 hits in half a day, a world record for me. If you haven't listened yet, please do so as it features a monster, extended version of his killer "Empty Promises' with excellent close-ups of Michael, the last time he would ever play it.
RIP Iron Man
