Re: New Series of Rig Demos!! (Guitar Backline)

Thanks, I'd only seen the first two. The main rig and especially the board were really informative. Thanks. Wish I had the cash to buy a copy. Alas no.

Come on the Blades (sorry Idolbone just had to borrow your line)

Great find!

I think some of Joe's dry humor went over the interviewer's head lol.

Re: New Series of Rig Demos!! (Guitar Backline)

Thanks for that, was great to hear the amps one at a time and see all the guitars again.

Re: New Series of Rig Demos!! (Guitar Backline)

that's probably the best 6 part gear run down Joe has done.
Just can't cover his stuff in 1 -6min video.

(If only I had 1% of Joe's guitar talent)

Probably only because he speaks another language

Re: New Series of Rig Demos!! (Guitar Backline)

Thanks for posting these.  I never get tired of watching Joe describe his equipment and play through his various amps.  Sometimes interviewers want to butt in and show how much "they" know about gear, ect.  That is not the point of the interview.  Please just ask Joe a question and then let him answer, or just stand back, hold the mike, and let Joe talk.  I find it rude when interviewers talk over the person they are interviewing.  Hats off again to Joe for being a "secure" guitarist and sharing all his tone secrets.

Re: New Series of Rig Demos!! (Guitar Backline)

I found the very end interesting where Joe mentions going back to a cable because his wireless broke down. I remember one of the rundowns where Joe praised the wireless for maintaining the original tone and how he couldn't hear a difference...it really makes you wonder how powerful a role psycho-acoustics plays into this game we guitarists call tone chasing.

'67 and '74 Fender Twin Reverbs, '74 Marshall 1987 lead mkII, Metro Superlead 100. Pedals from TC Electronic, Ibanez, Dunlop, BK Butler, Electro-Harmonix, Fulltone, Maestro/Gibson, Loopmaster switching, VoodooLab, Boss. Gibson and Fender guitars, Dimarzio pickups.

Good videos and as usual Joe is patient and gracious to reveal his gear.  I loved the way the cameraman took a sneaky peak at the amp settings!  I do wish more time would be spent on the order of the pedal board - I can see that the guitar line goes into the wah, but then what?  It would be great for Joe or his tech to release a schematic diagram on here for example.  It interests me that Joe does not use a buffer on the front of his rig given the long run of leads through to his amp - perhaps that's another thread!?!

The diagram printed in Guitar World can be found here (although it fuzzes up when you try  to enlarge it much):  http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak- … 5863_n.jpg

Interesting on the Marshall Black 88 ,2555 his settings have altered from his normal jubilee settings

presence 9oclock , treble 9oclock and Mids 12oclock are all much lower than normal is this what he means by the 88 being warmer ??
