Topic: Norman Watt Roy

Currently in tour with Wilko Johnson. Norman Watt Roy, my god what a bass player. Has to be in my top 2 of all time. I must also add that we could dream to be on tour with a nicer bunch of guys, its surreal!

Re: Norman Watt Roy

Plus his time as a Blockhead..................

Re: Norman Watt Roy

Thinking of catching him at Bridport later this month.Has he still got Steve Howe's son on drums?

No matter how far you try to push the envelope, it remains stationery

See what you mean - where some bassists stand stock still or others "shuffle" Norman ceratinly has a stance that's all his own; but my God, he can play. I've seen guys all over the music spectrum like Stu Hamm and Chris Squire and Billy Sheehan and I'd put NWR toward the top of the heap.

How about Andy Frazer of Free for a distinctive style (and sound),

Come on the Blades (sorry Idolbone just had to borrow your line)

Another really good choice, but not one I've been able to see "live".

Think this thread could start a spin-off as to Top Bassists....
