Re: Vienna (meet details - time change!)

That'll be a beautiful trip, Glyn!

A few tips for people who have never been to Vienna, things I think are 'must sees'.

Schloss Schoenbrunn - the summer palace, epic scale, fantastic gardens at the rear.

Prater - the permanent fun-fair with Harry Lime's Ferris wheel, the Riesenrad (giant wheel)

Hoehenstrasse - a scenic drive up a hill into the Wienerwald (Vienna Woods), culminating on the Leopoldsberg. The roof of the restaurant there offers the most stunning panoramic view of most of the city, and the Danube. The long range weather forecast is sunny and around 30c! big_smile

Cathy arrives tomorrow, Rocket arrives Thursday, and we head off south-east-ish on Friday. Road trip! tongue cool

Anyone likely to have a guitar to hand at lunch? We could have a pre-gig sing song, all in the best possible taste of course.

Rocket, depending on what you need your phone for over here, you might consider getting a throw away sim card with a cheap phone, or if you really need your own phone it might be a better idea to have it sent to me here in Amsterdam. If it's going to Gunter's , you'll need to be sure that it will be delivered there no later than Saturday.

Looking forward to meeting all the people we haven't met before. Those of us you who don't know us will recognize us by our Bonawho badges. wink

Yeah Geo, I considered that option and it is viable, but terrible for many reasons.  The arrangements are made for it to be overnite which I figured the time differences in will make it.  I play it by ear friend!

I am ok having non-English excitement around me, so please, carry on in native...   So, YES, absolutely looking forward to meeting so many! ...and of course, the Royall Flush Five up on the stage!!!

Hoping Joe has a pre-electric arch top of any maker.

Doesn't look like any archtops are present, but the one behind the dreadnaught on the right might be a dobro, hard to tell...

Re: Vienna (meet details - time change!)

6 days to go.  Sitting in lounge at Newark Airport, waiting for flight to Frankfurt.

The enormity and the completely absurd nature of this undertaking now hitting home.

Better check my bag one last time for show tickets.

It's not absurd.  I did this for the RAH show 3 years ago and it opened up a whole new world of friends for me.  You will have a blast - enjoy every minute - you won't regret it.

about 40€; rather take CAT (City Airport Train) or even better S7 or S8 for about 4€.

Re: Vienna (meet details - time change!)

Guenter is right, Pete. Take the train or a bus into town, the airport is a bit far for a taxi. Ask the information desk at he airport for help, tell them where your hotel is. Or, send me your details and I will try to pick you up - no promises though, depends on when, etc.
