Topic: Why did Joe part with budda amps?

Im just wondering why as iv bought a sd80 and I use ev12 s with it and it's such an amazing tone, I compared it to the Marshall dsl I had and the budda blew it away im actually amazed by this amp , with the Marshall it was one sound , but with the budda it's rock , country , clear and articulate ! I love the demos on you tube with Joe a few years back !

Re: Why did Joe part with budda amps?

Because Joe doesn't switch channels on an amp.  He looks for one thing that one amp does really well and blends it with his Jub's.  My other guess is he found other things that could blow a Budda away.  You really don't see Joe with a DSL unless he has traveled somewhere and they are supplying the amp.  DSL's are more then avalible everywhere in the world so its a safe go to amp when he's going to do TV appearences or guest spot at a concert.

Re: Why did Joe part with budda amps?

Did he actually have a formal endorsement deal with Budda?  I don't think that he considers them BAD amps now - it's just that they probably don't fit his current tone requirements.

It's a bit like the Carol-Ann amps I guess - He hasn't got one in his current rig, but I believe he still likes them, and we will see them go back into rotation on an upcoming tour.

If I can ever get away from my Rivera amp, I'd love to own a Budda someday smile

Re: Why did Joe part with budda amps?

I think it may have had something to do with reliability

as they are great sounding amps Joe its touhj on his gear

so they need to withstand a lot of abuse and I dont think

the Buddas were road reliable

I think Peavey have taken over Budda now

Re: Why did Joe part with budda amps?

Peavey has been making Buddas for a few years now, pretty much ever since they got into circuit boards.  I have had a Twinmaster Plus in my band for 4 years now.  It is an older handwired Budda; used to be mine and now it is my singer/rhythm player's.  Of all the amps that have come through the band, that is the one that always gets the most comments on tone.  I got the Budda because of Joe and his approval of it (even though it was not the same model).  There was something about the tone in those amps that fit rather well with his single coil uses back in the day and to be honest I miss that; but that said his current rig and tone are just fine as well.
