Topic: New delay on the scene

I'll let it speak for itself.
I may sell my 2 delays and buy this!

Re: New delay on the scene

Surely this is a bit of a rip for the people who bought the Flashback and expected these presets to be available on it? Why can't they just make a toneprint for these settings?

...and having a look at that video..it just shows how special Gilmour's tone was on that record...the Binson sounds incredible...the TC sounds flat, harsh and one dimensional - it could be his setup - but that really doesn't sell the pedal for me.

Re: New delay on the scene

Well it just means it's exclusive to PGS, which is fair enough really.

And I think the set up is the major thing here. That tone Gilmour had had other effects on it too. And note Gilmours live tone is/was never identical to the recorded tone. So production will be playing a big part too.

Re: New delay on the scene

Well, my old Japanese DD-3 died 3 days ago and I'll be visiting USA this summer so maybe I'll buy this thing for some long delay kinda sound... As here in Poland pedals are pretty expensive smile

I disagree that the pedal sounds flat, but the proof will be when I receive mine so no point in discussing that now as youtube vids are often so compressed.  I would go to the PGS website where they have better audio with the videos and listen at the highest quality possible.  It is retailing the same as the flashback, and if you go to the TC site, at least for the DMM setting, the Steve Morse tone print will be the same or very close since that is what he was using prior to switching to TC.  I am certain if people go in fiddle with their own settings that anything could be achieved on the Flashback.  I for one prefer the look of the Alter Ego and looking forward to using all of the different types of delays on there, especially the 2290 setting.

Re: New delay on the scene

Ok so I got mine yesterday and have been playing since.  I love the sounds and features in this pedal.  It can be used as a simple setup, plug-set-and play, or it has a ton of features for noise making that are all very cool; again this is no different than the flashback other than the couple of extra presets it has.  it pays to read the instructions to get the most of it.  It will replace the carbon copy on my board; is it as good tone wise as the H&K i had and sold because it was just a giant pedal?  no it is not, but it does sound great (the only flat/lackluster setting I felt was the 2290), has tons of features and not a bad sound in it.  it also lets you switch from true bypass to buffered which is a huge plus.  There is even a tone print app now that is available for free.  super cool innovation from TC.

Re: New delay on the scene

I think it sounds great I wish he wasn't playing along with the track so you could really get a good feel for the pedal.  Never had a lot of sucess with delays maybe this one would be a nice one to try.
