Topic: JB Tones with 18W and 1 Amp ....it can be done !!

As many of you know I've built a few amps for Joe and as such I've been to many sound checks, heard his rig on stage and even played through it. I'm very familiar to how my ears hear it. Everyones ears are different so others may disagree with me.

Also as an owner of an amp company you have to troll through Youtube to see whats out there. People do clips. while on some occasions this can be a bit scary because you've no control on what goes out there, just sometimes you'll come across a clip that is a little bit special. This is such a clip to me because I've never heard anything that sounds so close to the on-stage sound of Joes rig from an observers standpoint.
The ironic this is this is just one 18W 2 channel amp (an OD2r to be precise)  through a 12L and recorded with the camera mic.

See what you think.

This was an older OD2r that didn't have an efx loop so the guy took a low level  signal from an attenuator on the output of the CA  to the efx and used the Tech 21 as a 'transparent' amplifier to amplify the efx. A wet/dry rig. All the tones are from the CA. THis is a neat way to use a non-efx loop amp like an old Plexi with delay and reveb etc. This is what Eric Johnson does.

The same could have been done without the Tech 21 if it was a newer OD2r or OD3r with an efx loop.

I want I want I want!  Wow!  I wonder how that would sound through a 4x12 cabinet?

Like the God of thunder gargling nails!

Sounds great. Not so sure I understand the attenuater part though.

Re: JB Tones with 18W and 1 Amp ....it can be done !!

This thread has now gotten me dangerously interested in an OD3!

So the attenuator thing, Is is 1 output feeding the amp speaker as normal while the other feeds an attenuator lowering the signal to some pedals then fed into another amp? is that how it works?
