Re: The Marshall 50th Anniversary website countdown has finished ....

I imagine they'll announce them at NAMM later this month. Not going to lie, i'm quite excited to see what they come out with! Hope we're not disappointed...

What amp?.....A JB Signature? Everyone else seems to be getting one.

Re: The Marshall 50th Anniversary website countdown has finished ....

Looks like they've announced the first set of amps. 1w DSL, JCM, JMP, JTM, JVM combos and heads. Obviously not all they'll release but off to an exciting start! Gonna be hard to resist these little things...

Me too...
This company is losing the plot Gibson style...
Why am I seeing amps like this..built in such horrendously limited numbers that are a fine excuse to push the price up?

The Marshall sound has always been the 100w wipe-the-floor-with-you. These will have no balls...I guarantee that.

Just what I needed to hear after the totally disastrous Fender Clapton amps.

You may be the big boys in money terms...but you have ZERO idea of how to make amps...there are hundreds of other options that both, sound better and are in many instances...cost less!

Enough of the gimmicks... sad I do not wear rose tinted glasses when it comes to gear. I just have very big holes in my pockets for the quality stuff rather than the name...so to speak.

I agree, it seems too gimmicky.  I do love my class 5, but I wish they would have left that be their low wattage amp and thats it.  I hate to speculate too much since the information is very limited at this point, but at the same time, I also understand that if I don't like it...I simply don't have to buy it.

Re: The Marshall 50th Anniversary website countdown has finished ....

This isn't the whole range (that WOULD be a shock)! Apparently these pics got leaked. There will be all the big high-end stuff but it's fun to have these toys to mark the occasion as well (for a fraction of the cost, no doubt).

When NAMM's come and gone we'll know what we're dealing with but it's unfair to judge them just on one part of their plan. IMO it's a really neat idea, releasing one little token amp for every decade they've been going alongside their serious monsters. I know I sure want the JMP to sit next to it's big brother in my studio!

Re: The Marshall 50th Anniversary website countdown has finished ....

I have a marshallized 0.5 watt guytronix tube amp....it kills.  These better be tube amps, not that I would buy one.

Where the hell does one get a black-backed gold top anyway?

Re: The Marshall 50th Anniversary website countdown has finished ....

Limited production = too gimmicky

Gibson 60th Anniversary 1959 Les Paul Reissue, Gibson LP Standard Faded CSB, Gibson Gary Moore LP Standard, Epi Joe Bonamassa GT LP, Epi Zakk Wylde LP, Dean Michael Schenker Flying V, Jackson Randy Rhoads V, ESP/LTD George Lynch Kamikaze, EVH Striped Series R/B/W, Fender/Squire John 5 Telecaster, Fender Joe Strummer Relic Telecaster

Re: The Marshall 50th Anniversary website countdown has finished ....

I don't necessarily agree with it being 'too gimmicky'. I can see where you're coming from, but I think it is cool to make it a bit special (otherwise why bother tying it to the 50th anniversary?). But maybe that's just me falling for consumerism wink

There's speculation that there COULD in theory be a production run of these to follow a limited release.. but they also don't say '50th anniversary' on the front so perhaps they're just going to be a new production run (eventually). Only time and NAMM will tell...

In this economy, I can't fault any company for heeding the collective voice of consumers, as Epiphone did. To those who somehow feel burned by Epiphone's resuming production of the JB Goldtop, a simple question: Would you have still wanted/purchased this guitar if you thought it was going to be a regular production model?

If your answer is "Yes" (as it was for me), what difference does it make to you how many are produced? It is a fantastic value, and a great-sounding guitar at any price. I don't care if Epiphone cranks out a million of 'em, nobody's going to get mine away from me...   wink

If your answer is "No," I can certainly understand your feeling burned a little by Epi's change of heart. If it bothers you that much, just sell the thing and move on. But can we maybe have a moratorium on the issue around here? I'd rather spend my time enjoying my guitar, and being glad for the hundreds of other players who will have the chance to own one...

And, look on the bright side: If the new run of Goldtops sells like hotcakes (as I suspect it will), maybe that will inspire Epiphone to come out with a Bonaburst the rest of us can afford, too!   lol

I can't agree more, I'm more than happy with mine, a far better guitar than the price suggested. OK not good to go back on the original 1000 only limited run but I will be keeping mine as long as I am able to hold it. I only hope that Joe doesn't mind signing a load more certificates and that the quality doesn't suffer for people buying from the new production run.

Come on the Blades (sorry Idolbone just had to borrow your line)

Re: The Marshall 50th Anniversary website countdown has finished ....

There are definitely full scale amps coming for the 50th as well as a few artist sigs through the year (Wylde and Satch for sure).

I thought the 1 watters are a great idea, most likely lower price range, perfect for the majority of people who play in the bedrooms and will let a lot of younger people and those without tonnes of cash to spend to get something from the 50th year. Also gives Marshall a great way to test the desire for a wider range of low watters beyond the class5.

We'll all find out at NAMM no doubt.

Oh, and the person that leaked the 1w shots will be put through legal hell no doubt, all dealers and those who were privy to the 50th stuff had to sign binding NDAs. Then again Marshall might like a little hype before NAMM.

Re: The Marshall 50th Anniversary website countdown has finished ....

To Coach (sorry, couldn't attach note to your comment)

I'd Oh wow...here I go again.  I Love the Epi and would never sell it.  It's the principle of the whole thing.  If you might offer more for sale, why the " limited" tease?  For the Fuzz they were up front...there would be an initial 1000 produced and depending on how it went, they would produce another run.  I paid a heck of a lot more for my Bonaburst....and there was never a "limit" placed on it.  So again....they can certainly do as they like....but there's no reason they can't be honest about it

Sure...a moratorium would be fine....but I have the right to make a comment on something that has been addressed to me.  Just to be clear....the Epi is phenomenal...would buy it again....no regrets....love it....will never sell it  My point was regarding Marshall....if they make it "limited"...keep it that way...or don't say it is.  I just don't get what's difficult to understand about that concept....even with regards to commercialism.
