Re: Going to see Kenny Wayne Shepherd Tuesday!

Hey Ron! The Emerald was definetly a great venue. We were front row right in front of his Mic. Couldnt ask for better viewing. Thats great you got to meet them before the show! I have never thought of doing that. Good idea. The BB King show Ill probably go to. I seen the advertisemnet the other day. Also, Chris Duarte is coming in July also. I should be at that also.

Shredit, Kenny did sing for one song that I can think of but dont remember what it was. He also shared the singing with Noah on Blue on Black.

Noah's not going anywhere I don't think.  Kenny introduced him as his "10 years long" brother last night.  Kenny sang only a verse or two all night long: one with Buddy Flett, and Blue On Black.  Noah was the featured KWS Band vocalist and sings during the allstar jam as well.  What a great vocalist he is.  Powerful and passionate.

DKnight, what did you think when Noah sang Spoonful?? I thought it was amazing! Where I was standing, he sounded like Jack Bruce. Great voice for sure.

Noah is indeed a great vocalist, reminds me a little of early Greg Allman.  Susan is amazing as well.  We look forward to seeing KWS the 24th here in Charlotte.

Michael:  I'll try and do something in detail, but no way I'm going to match the flair of your European tour diaries.  Unfortunately, I'm on my way out the door for the weekend, so it'll have to wait until Sunday or so.

Was a great time and an excellent show, though I still prefer Joe way over KWS....he earned a bit of respect from me for the 10 Days Out thing and for the talent he brought along with him.  More later....

We went to the show last night in Atlantic City, at the Music Box.   It was totally awesome, lots of talent up on that stage!  It was a magical evening, musical nirvana!  I had the good fortune of an aquaintance offering my hubby a backstage pass, which he let me use.  smile

Check out this 14 year old boy we met;  Kenny may make a guest appearance on his first album.

I'll let Carl give you a "proper" report. I just want to say "we" had a great time. Stood front L, in front of KWS. Great view of everything and surprisingly good sound (to me). And, I also apologize to Carl for yelling in his other ear!!LOL....All the guests were spot-on and KWS tore it up..Go Fender....And, as reported from an earlier show, he ended with my favorite..."Voodoo Chile"...Thanks Jane!!!!!...............Cathy

Rob, Jane took a few. I had my camera, but once the show starts, I just get lost and, well, you know the rest....The tape is still looping in my head!!!

Re: Going to see Kenny Wayne Shepherd Tuesday!

Going to see KWS tomorrow night here in Charlotte.  The new DVD is pretty interesting for sure.

Re: Going to see Kenny Wayne Shepherd Tuesday!

Hey Jane- I thought Bryan Lee's set was fabulous, he was well received and all his CD's were sold out along with Buddy Flett.  Bryan was cracking jokes - when some of the ladies were screamin', he told us we might as well take off all of our clothes...he couldn't see us anyway!

Hubert Sumlin was a pleasure to watch and listen to.  I find many of the elder bluesmen to have such endearing mannerisms, just kind hearted gentlemen that know how to play wicked guitar.

Jane, did you go backstage and have you ever met Kenny and/or Noah? There was a little confusion, as in one hand didn't know what the other was doing...we were told to be there 90 minutes before the show...regardless it worked out OK.  When I got backstage, I was the last one in the door and then all of sudden Kenny and Noah walked out of this room and I was first in line.  Believe it or not, I can be shy. lol  I think I swallowed my tongue, I truly felt like a little school girl and I only have seen them in concert once during the BB King 80th Birthday celebration...they were a big speck on the stage from where I was sitting.  After a handshake, the first thing that came out of my mouth was...do you know Jane?  smile I asked about the Ram's Head show and told Kenny and Noah I first started following them because of my Bonamassa friends!

I think Noah's voice is really remarkable, loved how he sang Spoonful. tongue  Kenny looks so very young in person...he didn't have any facial hair going on and is such a blondie...looks like a little school boy who is the master on guitar in the most grandiose fashion!!  The long encore was incredible with the 3 bluesmen back on stage and the closer Voodoo...I will never forget!  WOW, did Kenny ever show his stuff!!  Totally smoked!!

Merchandise was low, I bought the last Kenny Wayne t-shirt, the yellow one.  The guy gave me $7 off for the big smudge on the front, without me even asking.

Sidenote to Stu - The gent that gave me the backstage pass told me the whole band was going to be there and to make sure I brought any of my Stevie Ray Vaughn stuff to be signed.  I took 3 SRV CD liners: Texas Flood, Greatest Hits w/DT and Blues at Sunrise.  As it turned out only Kenny and Noah were in the back, but I was going to have Chris Layton sign something to you like...Dear Stu,  Thanks for turning Angela on to Stevie and Texas Flood.  Even though Anthony listened to SRV, you are the one that got me really listening to him through my early street team days, I don't think I ever told you that. smile I ended up meeting Chris in the hallway in the casino after the show, he had just broken away from a crowd and was trying to move on...I didn't want to bother him for any autographs, just said a few complimentary things to him.

Another thing about the 10 Days Out CD/DVD- Does anyone else feel that BB King's Thrill Is Gone is an exceptional version?  B.B.'s voice is raw in some spots, which I like, and the way the whole horn section comes in...I just think it's superb! As many times as I hear that song, truly I don't think I could tire of it.

And one other thing about seeing a show in Atlantic City- The Music Box is a smaller venue at the Borgota, Norah Jones was playing the larger venue.  I have found that the venues hold spots for comps for the high rollers, which sometimes leads to non-fans at the shows, so if you are in the first couple rows and you want to stand up on occassion and express yourself, they consider you an obstruction since they are not as in to it.  Can you imagine calling in security because a guy wanted to stand up and dance around a little at a Paul McCartney concert? I'm not really into gambling, but if you are a people watcher, Atlantic City is a city of sin in itself...sugar daddies, lots of plastic surgery from the waist up and all sorts of things happening.  Different strokes for different folks!

well Michael you can't compare Kenny and Joe.
Kenny has alot of special meaning to me and his music came along with perfect timing in my life. I owe alot to that and his tunes really make me feel good. I found out about Joe through KWS fans too, so there ya go.
Bryan Lee said something to the effect of Baltimore didn't treat him so good last time he was here but this time was good. we gotta get over this bad rep!
anyway it was great being around everyone having a great time and there was supposed to be some of the djs from the classic rock station there - they don't play the music right now but did talk about the show and of course witnessed their listeners enjoying it so much.

They did plenty KWS tunes too which was awesome because I needed all that and it was cool to hear Kenny doing the other stuff too. Plenty of heavy blues.
it was a big jam for You Done Lost Your Good Thing Now. I got my first BB King cd after hearing Kenny do that song a number of years ago.

What a show in Bal'mer.  Good to see the Bonamassa fans out in full force.  Sorry I didn't get to hang with you guys!  Next time for sure!

Re: Going to see Kenny Wayne Shepherd Tuesday!

Got to see KWS last night in Charlotte, along with Brian Lee, Hubert Sumlin, and Buddy Flett.  They played about 2 1/2 hours and put on a great show.  There were screens set up which showed clips of the DVD which is worth getting.  Met Kenny and Noah before the show at the M&G.  They only have a couple of more shows to do before wrapping up the tour.
