Re: Going to see Kenny Wayne Shepherd Tuesday!

I have seen Bryan Lee's band before... his shows are "very blues" - whereas kws shows are rock/blues with some entertainment. I love telling people I have Bryan Lee's business card, it say Bryan Lee Blues Specialist. how perfect is that?

Also, I saw KWS @ summerfest in 2000, & Byran Lee came onstage for two songs.

Re: Going to see Kenny Wayne Shepherd Tuesday!

Haven't seen it other than Jay Leno and the DVD. Don't think Leno knew Bryan Lee is blind because he put his hand out for Bryan to shake! Awkward moment for sure. But Hubert Sumlin is a dear, dear man. He played for the Baltimore Blues Society. You will have a great time and let us know! As an homage to Michael, I think you'll have to give us a "Lynch" which means a blow by blow.

Re: Going to see Kenny Wayne Shepherd Tuesday!

I'm pumped.  I'll try and go to the Baltimore & DC shows.  Looking forward to all of them.  Blues in a Honky Tonk Key with Buddy Flett is INCREDIBLE.  Song of the year so far.

Re: Going to see Kenny Wayne Shepherd Tuesday!

Did anyone else hear Kenny on the Bob & Tom show this morning?  I got in my car to head to work and I heard someone talking about recording their first ablum while still in high school.  I figured it either had to KWS or one of the guys from the band Eve 6, as they're the only one's I know off the top of my head that did that.  Sure enough it was Kenny.  Only heard him play one song though, which I believe might have been off the new album.

Yeah I heard him on the net, 106.5 the edge (streaming).  They had the whole band there in the studio, did about 4 songs in total.  KWS explain the reason behind the documentary.  Sounds like he is trying to keep the blues alive!  Hats off to em...

Well, I definitely don't hear about how Kenny sold out anymore. Certainly shut those guys up.

Hey all, the show was fabulous!! If he is in your town with the 10 Days Out tour, dont miss it! Ill post more tomorrow and try and get some pics posted as well. Great night. Got autographs from Kenny, Chris Layton, and Buddy Flett. I thought Bryan Lee was fabulous! The crowd was loudest when he finished his gig. No Pinetop Perkins. Hubert was awesome also!

Re: Going to see Kenny Wayne Shepherd Tuesday!

I'm missed the interview on Bob and Tom, but on KWS's website, someone posted that as of 4-9-07, Ten Days Out was ranked #11 on Amazon.com best sellers music list and #9 on the Amazon.com Hot New Releases list.  Amazing what a little exposure can do!

Hey Rob, thanks for the update.  Did you go to the "meet and greet" to get your autographs or did they come out after the show?

Re: Going to see Kenny Wayne Shepherd Tuesday!

The tour hit Toledo last night.  It was simply amazing.  Kenny was absolutely on fire.  Buddy Flett's voice just dripped the blues.  Bryan Lee is a great bluesman and a pure entertainer.  At times it seemed that everyone on stage were fixated in awe of Hubert Sumlin (and yeah, the guy can tear it up pretty good!).  No Pinetop.  They did the complete video sequence of Etta Baker.  The allstar jam they did to close the "guest" portion of the show just felt like history in the making.  Chris and Tommy were there from Double Trouble (although there was a second bass player for more than half the songs intead of Tommy).  I don't know the keyboard player's name. Kenny closed the show with a smokin' version of Voodoo Child (Slight Return).

I took my teenage kids too.  I think it was something they will always remember and cherish.  Thanks you KWS for making something like this happen for the fans of the blues, future fans, and especially the featured artists.

The Toledo show was a sell out.

Re: Going to see Kenny Wayne Shepherd Tuesday!

Yes in deed! That show is still in my memory.
David, We met the band after the show. Thats your best bet if you see them is to wait by their trailer after the show and they sign at the door of the trailer. Buddy Flett was roaming around out in the parking lot after the show. Very nice guy. Actually, they were all very friendly. Didnt get to meet Bryan Lee or Hubert. Met Chris Layton!!!

The show was very good. I have many pics but I dont know how to display them for all to see so if anyone is interested, let me know how to do this task and I will give it a whirl.

I believe I stated this allready but Bryan Lee was a hit!!! The crowd was letting him know it too.

The show was allmost sold out but you could have fooled me! It looked like you couldnt fit another person in the house. The Emerald Theater is an amazing place. I guess Riders on the Storm will be playing there next month(Robby Krieger and Ray Manzarek of the Doors!!) Ill be there. I hope Joe plays there when he returns to our area.

I think the show was very successful mainly because of our radio station WRIF. WRIF heavely promoted the show and they even had Kenny Wayne on the Drew and Mike show in the morning for about an hour.

Re: Going to see Kenny Wayne Shepherd Tuesday!

Hey Rob,

So you liked the Emerald,  I still think it's Detroits best kept secret...not a bad seat in the house.
Were were you seated ?  I couldn't make the show, but my wife & I were in the neighborhood around 2 pm
just as they were finishing load in at the Emerald.  I parked out back & stood by the tour buses and met Kenny & Bryan Lee.  very friendly people.  Glad you enjoyed the show.  I agree that Joe should play the Emerald next time through.  The Emerald & the Hayloft are owned and run by the same people.
Just got my passes for B.B. King @ D.T.E. (Pine Knob).  Rumor has it that this is B.B's Farewell Tour....
B.B. King - Etta James - Al Greene.....should be an excellent show.

Glad to hear the show was great, most of them will be in Memphis on May 4-6, at the festival. Take a look at the line up, For 60 bucks it's unreal.
Did Kenny sing at all? Heard he was going to start, hope he doesnt can Noah in his own band.
