Topic: Capo
Does anyone know what type of capo Joe uses on his electrics, or can someone recommend a brand/type of capo that has minimal negative affects on tuning. Thanks.

I would like to know this too! It looks like a Planet Waves capo, not sure though. On a Les Paul I've found that a Schubb Capo works very well. Just make the tension enough to hold the strings down on the frets. Unlike others, I've also found that to get the best result on a Les Paul, put the capo around the middle of the fret.
I agree that the Schuub works well my Les Paul's fat neck.
I just lashed out and bought the G7Capo the other day. I like that I don't have to strain my thumb with a strong spring to clip it on or remove it.
You do have to give it a bit of a squeeze on acoustics to get it to grip tight enough though...
My best friend swears by a G7 capo, I personally like Kyser capos but thats all I ever tried.
I just have a cheap Kyser capo too. It works, but always have to do a good bit of retuning. Plus, its a bit of an eye sore. Oh well, I rarely use it anyway! When playing acoustic, its great to change songs keys. Thats about the only time it gets any use.
Does the G7 or Planet Waves seem to lessen the readjusting after its on?
The G7 capos are meant to be great but I have an ordinary Dunlop Trigger Acoustic capo for my Epi JBLP and it works perfectly.
If you use heavier strings and stay standard tuning you shouldn't have a problem unless you have an extreamly high action. Is it possible you have intonation issues as well? Not trying to be a butt but I've used these things for 13 years no issues, and intonation is a big deal to me.

AD3:
I use regular 10's Ernie Ball or Dean Markley. (Speaking of which, just tried a set of Everly Rockers, 10 gauge, not bad..very balanced on the high strings, Not bright at all.) .. Anyway, I didn't think of the intonation. I only use it for a song, but I hate sweating it out wondering if the guitar is still going to be in tune with the bass or if it had gone sharp..
I think my intonation is good, but Action is a bit high. Probably not to most people's liking, and i keep the neck straight. I appreciate your advice, thanks! I may try another capo for the heck of it. The Kyser works; but if you aren't careful putting it on, some of the strings might bend underneath it. It needs to be on there "just right".
Thanks everyone for your input. I have all the above capo's except for the schubb so I'll give those a try too. I am understanding more about the intonation. I need to learn to do it myself. That's probably 80% of the solution.
