Topic: Joe and Lap Steel?

Has he ever played lap steel in a video? I haven't found any and I'm interested in picking up a lap steel, so I was looking for inspiration.
If not can anyone recommend any good lap steel players?

One of Caveman's recent facebook posts about Joe working on the newest blues release had a picture of Joe in studio playing a lap steel! Sitar next? wink R.R. should be inspiration enough for anyone, re Ken's post. He kills on that thing!

Thanks, I knew about Robert Randolph since he played with Joe at Crossroads 2010 but I thought he only played pedal steel...but I will check him out,  big_smile

Is there any way you can post a link, I've checked his posts going back a month and I can't seem to find it.

I looked around and couldn't find it. I happened to notice it one day when Kevin's feed ran by in the fb news mentioning Joe and studio work. It was a wow moment to see that. Just one snap of Joe on a chair playing a white lap steel. I don't recall if it was from his studio fb or personal.

Re: Joe and Lap Steel?

Anyone have a link to the pic of Joe standing in front of his gear? Isn't there a lap steel in that pic?

there are several, but I was looking particularly for a video or recording of him playing.
Oh well, back to trawling youtube  big_smile

Re: Joe and Lap Steel?

Just to add to the thread in case someone ever looks for a topic like this....Junior Brown plays lap steel as well, and has a double neck guit-steel, top neck guitar bottom neck lap steel.

Though I must say it looks uncomfortable, if I were ever going to do something like that I would simply put a lap steel in one of those holders that holds it at a comfortable playing height and position and have the guitar on normally.
