Topic: Photos - London Hammersmith Odeon 22nd October 2011
To say that taking photos at Saturday's Hammersmith Odeon show was difficult would be slightly economical with the actuality.
(This was not Plymouth with access to the whole stage front, Joe in full light and less than 10 foot away much of the time resulting in some good shots as you can see in my other slideshow).
It was a fully seated show and I am used to having limited access to the front and needing to keep low so as not to anoy other ticket paying fans, but this time the management of Hammy Odeon not only decided to sell 300 standing tickets in the side aisles but to only allow the photographers to shoot from the front far right side - some 50+ feet from Joe who never once came to the right during the first 3 songs!
Joe's own photographer - nice lady who I remember seeing before at High Voltage and other Joe gigs - gave up immediately but the rest of us did our best.....so...., I moved forwards, I moved back, I went to ISO 800, I used 300mm zoom and tried to focus in the near gloom at upto 20 times my normal distance from Joe!
Before I learnt the new "rules" I was bemused by a professional who had brought a massive dustbin like lens with monopod I soon realised why.
The results are below along with many taken using my compact from my seat that was nearly as successful.
Comments as always are encouraged.
