Topic: Traded an amp today - Marshall for Fender

Found a deal on Craiglist.  1965 Blackface Fender Bassman head with an old Fender cab that was modified from a 2x15 cab into a 1x12  cab (It was cut in half).  I wasn't too worried about the cab, it was just an extra.  I wanted the old Bassman head as it is in great shape.  I traded a JCM 900 Marshall head for the Bassman head and cab. I love these old Fender heads and it feels great to have added another one to my other two.  The Marshall was a good head.  I just never could play it loud enough to justify it anymore.  I believe the guy I traded with is happy and so am I so it was a good deal.  Now back to the cab.  It is a piece of work.  They did a good job on it but I plan to convert it into a 2x10 cab.  Now the clincher is the grill cloth.  You want to talk about a custom grill cloth?  I am dead serious when I say the previous owner replaced the grill cloth with a grill cloth that his mother knitted.  Yes, it has some fine stitching and is made out of yarn.  It would be a fine conversation piece but it doesn't protect the speaker at all and I don't think I can handle it.  I plan to replace it with some aged Fender grill cloth to match the original grill on the head.  I guess I could cut it in half and have my wife make a scarf out of it......
