Topic: Joe Question on Marshall Class 5 settings and effects

I just watched the Interactive Guitar mag interview with Joe.  Joe played his 59 through the little Marshall.  The tone was great.  This is a simple little amp and while I could see no effects the tone sounded wet like it had some reverb or delay.  Maybe Joe can chime in here.  When you play through the little class 5 what settings do you prefer and do you use any effects like a delay or TS808?  This certainly is a neat little amp.

Best regards

Re: Joe Question on Marshall Class 5 settings and effects

Was it the Class 5 he was playing through?  I asked that question a few days back but no answer so far.  I am thinking about pulling the trigger on one this weekend...especially if that is the amp in that video...massive tone....love to know the settings too!!!

i thought he was playing through the lazy J amplifier?

Re: Joe Question on Marshall Class 5 settings and effects

No...He is definitely playing through a Marshall.  You can see the Marshall name on the amp in the opening shot.

Re: Joe Question on Marshall Class 5 settings and effects

No the amp in the interview was a Marshall Class 5.  It looked just like the one I play through everyday.  Its a 5 watt amp valve amp that sounds great and has a low power switch on the back that cuts the amp down to about 1.5 watts.  Its perfect for playing in small settings like that.  This amp just has four simple controls, vol, treble, bass and mid.  I set mine at 6 on the vol, 10 on the bass, 7.5 on the mid and 4.5 on the treble.  Thise settings are the ones Joe said he uses on this Silver Jubelee.

I was just curious if he was using any effects and what his prefered settings are when he is using the little class 5.  Maybe Joe can tell us.   For me the class 5 fits my needs.  I play it along with a Fender Hotrod Deluxe and the two amps compliment each other very well.

Re: Joe Question on Marshall Class 5 settings and effects

I am actually thinking about grabbing a used on here.  It is the generation 2 version.  Thinking about running it with a clean Vox ac15.

Sometimes they just add some reverb post mic.

Re: Joe Question on Marshall Class 5 settings and effects

Joe posted on here that his settings on the Class 5 were 4 on the volume, 10 on the bass, 6 on the mids, and 3 on the treble. It's what I go by on mine and it sounds great!  smile
