Topic: Catagory 5 New JB Custom>>The new Silver jubliee has arrived

Hi All
I just received my Catagory 5 Joe Bonamassa custom 100 head. This is the one that Joe had mentioned sometime back that he tried and told Don Ritter of Cat 5 that he had nailed the tone of the Silver Jubilee. I pluged this in next to a Marshall Silver Jubliee that I have and my jaw dropped. This is it>>>>>this is better then the silver jubilee. So if you want the magic tone of these legendary amps look no further. You now can buy a new one. I will send pic's later today. And No I do not work for Catagory 5. All I can tell you is do not wait order one now they are going to fly off the shelve.

I would love to hear one of these.  I bet they do sound outstanding.  But $3750.00 would be very painful.

I'm GAS'ing but not at that price! I'll stick with my little two combo amp rig. Suit's me just fine.

This is not on the site yet. The one listed is the JB-100 Custom 68. This is a new one based on the silver jubilee and cost is more like $3,999. But from what I am hearing worth every penny. Hopefully Joe will chime in with comments. I will try to load some sound clips in a few days.

Having both a Silver Jubilee running next to it the lead channel seems more touch responsive, tone more full. The rhythm channel has two knobs the Sulver Jubilee doesn't have, saturation and level. These add more tonal possibilities to this channel. This new head also has a mid boost switch. It's like most things you need to take it for a ride yourself. This is strickly my viewpoint, I love my Silver Jubilee but this new Catagory 5 is better to me. No need to search for a silver Jubilee that are hard to come by to get that tone. not only that it is new.

is this an amp you would gig with on it own

or is it still an amp to blend with other amps

Hi Derek
Well as you know the blending thing is a ones own personal choice but I have tried this out by itself and blended with a cat 5 100, a Carol Ann JB100 and a Fuchs and  it sounds amazing. It also sounds amazing by itself. So I guess the answer is yeah as a silver jub sounds by itself this also sounds killer by itself. Again this is stricly my own viewpoint.
