Just got my hands on one of these amps, but to my dissappointment I can not (however i try to tweak the settings) get it to sound anything but WAY too thin and squeaky! My solo/lead tone, to be frank, is just pure sh*it. Listened to some of Joe's gear tours when he plays it and there it sounds amazing. Might something be broken?
Any advise or help is appreciated
Sounds like it needs new tubes and rebias, mine sounded that way before I re-tubed then the whole thing came to life!
FYI- I used to have a lot of trouble with my effects loop, bad soder joints, I put a jumper cable between the in and out of the effects loop and that helped. I know a few people with Jubs that had that same problem.
Bottom line find a good tech and have them go over it.

Yep. You're probably right, gonna have to find a good tech. Problem is, I live in Norway and have no idea where to start looking for one. I guess I can go to some guitar shops and ask around.

I live in Oslo, Norway and might help you with some names if you're in the same area. PM me if you like. I have a Silver Jub too and it rocks! The guy who sold it to me some months ago, recently contacted me and wondered if the amp was for sale! He regret selling it ..... I feel sorry for him.

Clean your inputs. Sounds like you need new power tubes. I like the Winged C tubes. Don't forget to re-bias after the change.
I don't know if I buy into the Hype about the early model Jubs, I have played early models and later ones like my black 2553 built in 88 and they all sounded great. But you have to make sure the tubes are in order. I also agree on the Winged C for power tubes I like them a lot.
Another issue I had with my Jub was the relay that controls the tone stack got dirty causing my EQ to cut out. I didn't know it, but one day the Jub would sound great and another day really bad. Took a good amp tech 6 hours to figure out the problem and you know he was good because he only charged me for 2 hours of work!

I can relate, being one of those. An intermittent relay or cold solder joint is one of the true stinkers to isolate. I'd have done the same. Some days you make out with quick fixes, others you get stuck with a real ball breaker. It all evens out in the long run and if there's a good customer you know will come back and tells his friends to boot, all the better.
