don't forget that a crucial piece of joe's tone is volume.  you need to be able to push these amps.

What do you mean by this (push these amps)? Like turning the volume really loud? Excuse my questions...

You want power amp breakup not pre amp distortion ..pre amp is unpleasant fizzy stuff ..power amp is rather more magical, spring, dynamic, airy, open etc.

And how exactly can I get that and not fall into the pre amp unpleasant fizzy stuff?? Thanks again for your help!

High volume setting, lower gain setting

Exactly. Ergo, Joe's settings: Master volume cranked (power tubes), Lead volume as high as you can bear (I have it on 2), and gain at 12 o'clock.

Re: Buying another amp for Joe's tone

I am confused.  Joe is known for using a British type amp... The Jub... and an American voiced amp... some kind of dumble copy.

So why not suggest a Fender type amp or if a ceritone to go with his marshall... Have him get a HRM Dumble copy.

Am I in left field here???

Yes ..but only because the OP was asking about BCC rather than JB solo work tone.

BCC is Marshall Jubilee paired with a Marshall Superlead or a Superbass

Also for fly in gig's (inc. solo band) Joe has been known to use two DSL's hence the reference to paring another with the OP's existing DSL

As you say solo band full rig is usually Jubilee paired with on of either a Carol Ann (Plexi), Twinkleland (Dumble), another Dumble style amp (another Twinkleland last time I saw him) so a Fender based amp would be a good starting point to pair with a Marshall for those tones.

Re: Buying another amp for Joe's tone

I know Joe also mentions somewhere I think its in a premier guitar mag that he uses the two DSL's one wet and the other one dry... What does that mean?? I also heard that the Ceriatone HRM is also a good match for the DSL. What would be more versatile??

A wet amp has effects going in to it. A dry amp is guitar into amp with no effects.
