Don't get blinded by all the girls flashing you!  I used to go back in the Nineties and it was alot of fun, but it has grown so huge we don't go anymore.  I'm still debating going to Memphis next week for IBC and seeing my buddy Boscoe France.  Stay tuned.....

It's a huge event with many bands playing along the Mississippi riverfront near the Pyramid.  Don't forget to go to the clubs though as there'll be some big names there too.  A life highlight was listening to Gregg Allman playing with Don McMinn's house band at the Rum Boogie and then him sitting next to me at the bar and chatting with my wife and friend.  Also talked at length with Albert King and B.B. King during another.  You'll be glad you made the trip.

Curby, in case you go, don't miss Tommy Schneller. He will be there and if it hasn't changed Jens Filser will be on guitar. Jens is a wonderful player. Jens plays with Layla Zoe very often when she's in Germany and they are a dream team.
Have a good time!

Gary Clark Jr will be supporting Eric Clapton's UK tour! I'm going to opening night at the Royal Albert Hall on the 17th May, what a bonus! very pleased with this turn of events! looks like i may be catching Gary Clark Jr 3 times this year. Hopefully he will be brought out to play a track with Clapton.

Re: Gary Clark Jr - Is He The Blues' Savior?

Any reviews of last night's sell out show in London? A colleague was there and says it was good but he's not a particularly technical player. My colleague plays and is a big fan of Eric Johnson and Robben Ford, so his expectations are high.

Re: Gary Clark Jr - Is He The Blues' Savior?

I am sure Steve will give an honest opinion Phil. You don't have to be technical to be gifted......... but I am sure you know that.

Re: Gary Clark Jr - Is He The Blues' Savior?

Gary's style is more based on groove than technical proficiency. In fact, his songs are really easy to learn, often only having 2 or 3 chords throughout. His style is definitely in the Jimi Hendrix style with some R&B flavor thrown in for good measure.

I also saw him at Crossroads (it was so hot we stayed near our seats) and bought the new album from iTunes. Amazing and I'm rarely thrilled with new artists
