Topic: Joe's use of a Line 6 Flextone

I always wondered why and what sounds joe used the Line 6 Flextone for.  I just remembered seeing it in some of his older vid's and just having my eyes bug out.

I mean I can see using line 6 for practice or even direct recording but for actual stage use I couldn't believe it.   Just no feel.  But I guess Joe can probably make anything sound good or like him.  Just in his fingers.  What a jerk LOL

Re: Joe's use of a Line 6 Flextone

I tried looking this up with a forum search, but unfortunately it's not very efficient, because you have to wait 60 seconds between searches.

From what I remember reading... Joe used to use the 1970 Twin Reverb part of the Line 6 Flextone amps whenever he had to fly in for last second performances. The Line 6 amps were more road worthy than the actual vintage Fender Twin Reverb (less maintenance), and the tone was close enough to make it a comprable substitute.

*correct me if I'm wrong*

What is a Line 6 Flextone? Is like an effect of some sort or an amplifier?

I always heard Joe used either the Marshall DSL's or a Bluesbreaker for fly in gigs.

That's his current fly-in rig. Mostly DSLs actually.

He used to travel with a Line 6 head (amplifier).

I believe there is one in the ANDY DVD and it was set to Black Face Fender. It was a combo but It was run in to the Marshall cab. He replaced it with a Showman head and then the Showman with a Black Face. I'm not sure but I think he had an endorsement from Line 6 at the time.

Here is a link to the Line 6 Flextone II

it's an amp with "classic amp" simulators, cabs, speakers and legendary effects. They sound GREAT through a PA, or though headphones... I can dial in Reconsider Baby like magic with mine. Great for recording into a board, mixer or computer too.

I didn't quite like it alone in a band setting though, not as well as a tube amp. So I'd like to get rid of mine. Looks just like the picture above 2x12 combo 150 watts solid state. Let me know if you're interested!
