Topic: Started using the theremin at my shows *instant fun*

So I joined my friend's geek/punk band...

The last gig, instead of a drum solo during the last song... we had a theremin solo. The song was called "Unknown Worlds of Science Fiction." (the other band members were English majors in college or are English professors) haha.

My Rivera knucklehead 100 watt was pushing two EVM12Ls. instead of bringing another amp for the theremin, I plugged the theremin into the low gain on the amp, and the guitar into the high gain on the amp. Since there's no reverb on the amp, I have a DD3 set slightly wet to mimic reverb, or Joe's slight delay on his Jub.

For the theremin solo, I jacked up all the delay settings to 12 o clock... and people were pointing at it like it was an alien space craft. I started with my hands... and then to get a bigger reaction I started using my guitar almost as if Hendrix would have had he used a theremin. People were REALLY digging it, and it made our set memorable among the other acts. Even the guy running sound said he's never seen one before... when people have their camera phones out, you know you're doing something right! wink

Sounds like a real hoot!

I tried building my own theremin kit once, from parts I ordered online.  Lets just say my soldering skills wouldn't be a threat to any electronics technician out there.  The device now makes a great paperweight! ... wink
