Topic: Australian tour amp setup

At the Enmore the other night, I noticed Joe's amp setup was quiet different than his usual configuration...
2 x Marshall TSL's on top
2 x Marshall DSL's on the bottom
2 x Marshall 1960b cabs
All heads were set on the 'clean' channel.
Unfortunately i wasn't close enough to check out his pedal board, but from i was hearing there was a tubescreamer, digital delay, reverb, flanger/ring modulator? and wah, anyone get any pics?
Also too, does anyone know if the theremin is plugged into the amps or PA?
Awesome gig BTW  cool

Re: Australian tour amp setup

I thought he said it through one of his amps in a video I saw.  The only effects he used on it was delay and wah.

Re: Australian tour amp setup

All his amps were rentals.

Your talking about the theremin yeah?? It looked/sounded like he was using a volume pedal and delay, rather than a wah

Re: Australian tour amp setup

Another thing I noticed was Joe's signature Gibson LP fitted with a Bigsby, is this guitar/addition relatively new?
Even thou his amps were obviously rentals, his tone was amazing, curious to know if they were 50w(DSL)/60w(TSL) or 100w or a combination of both....

Makes sense I suppose, imagine trying to fly all his usual stuff from USA/Europe to Oz!  yikes

Re: Australian tour amp setup

I was back in row U, so too far away to see anything other than 4 Marshalls. I'm not familiar enough with them to note model type from that distance.

Peace, out. Peter.

From what I could see it had a natural coloured back, so it may have been a regular 57 RI Les Paul. Don't all Joe's signature Goldies have black painted backs?

Re: Australian tour amp setup

Yeah all the amps are rental... Different amps and Cabs each night..  OZ is a big big country.  The pedal board the one I use and will use with Black Country Communion..  It is very simple and mobile LOL..  The Guitars are the now infamous 59 Les Paul,  a Prototype custom shop JB Gold Top, and a fantastic  Kim La Fleur Historic Makeover sans pickguard. The acoustic is my 2007 Yari ??? something.    11 Fly shows in two and a half weeks.  We travel with 23 pieces of luggage on the plane to make the show come off.  The next time we play OZ I will have a rig shipped over..  Thanks... The shows and the crowds have been a blast..

Re: Australian tour amp setup

Thanks for the info Joe. So that was your recently acquired burst then..... sounded killer.  big_smile  So the Goldtop, will it become a Custom Shop release? What are the specs? Does it have a chunky 57 profile neck or something more like a 59? And I see your intinary sees you criss crossing the continent from Brisbane to Perth back to Melbourne then Aedlaide, that's a hell of a lot of flying.  smile

Peace, out. Peter.
