Topic: Schmidt Electronics -- TS808 Limited Run

Not sure if this is the right spot for this, as this could be considered buy/sell.

I started a little company (Schmidt Electronics Co.) of my own a while back, and having been scratching my head for ideas of things to build. So with that:

http://web.me.com/austinschmidt/schmidt … /Home.html

I decided that I am doing a run of 10 TS808 style pedals with some subtle circuit differences from the original, which I am working on now.

I'm using high quality pieces throughout. +/- 1% components, good hardware, etc. I'm going to call this pedal the "Bulldog Drive." Paint jobs will be British racing green, with cream or black decals. One buyer is paying me extra to paint his a majestic purple, and my personal one will be Ford blue.

My price point is $125 shipped for forum members. How many people would be interested in something like this?

#1 is mine, and three others are already spoken for on another forum I belong to.

Thanks guys!

Re: Schmidt Electronics -- TS808 Limited Run

Can you build delay pedals?  I have an idea for one if you're trying to think of things to build that are a little different than everything else out there.

Re: Schmidt Electronics -- TS808 Limited Run

may I ask what differences we're talking about and how it effects the tone? thanks

Not at this time, as I'm just doing this for fun, but possibly in the future!

I'm working with my amp tech and mentor who is helping try to tighten the bass response, and create more transparency so that the natural character of the amp remains intact.

The sound great and the price is phenomenal...but I don't have enough cash for it, its all invested into my guitar build.....hope you get all sold though. Maybe next time round.

Not trying to be a jerk, but shouldn't this thread be in the Marketplace area of the Forum?

Re: Schmidt Electronics -- TS808 Limited Run

I got #1 (mine) aka the prototype built up today. Troubleshooting it. Bypass works fine. I suspect a problem with the opamp or something since all the wiring and such checked out. I'm done on this for the weekend though. Too much brain power in one day.

You can't just whack these things together and send them off. I'm going to do these right, even if it takes me a little longer.

Enclosure layout day on Saturday was **##. Layout ver. 1.0 wasn't right, so I am going to have to move the switch down a bit farther as well as the jacks to get this board to fit with all this high spec bologna popping out of it. These film caps are huge.

I'm going to work on getting all the boards done this week (all components on), and hopefully nail down what the heck is up with #1.

Cheers for everyone's patience, but hopefully people will understand when I posted this thread it was just a feeler. These things take time, and I'd rather do it right the first time before it gets on your board and takes a **## at a gig. That's not the rep I want to portray with my building, and I want people to be very impressed at what a $125 pedal can do, even if it takes me until the first week of June to get these babies done.

Re: Schmidt Electronics -- TS808 Limited Run

Given all of the OD pedals out there, especially modded 808s, may I suggest that you build one and post some You Tube samples and pedal comparisons.  It would help to hear why yours is different.

Wishing much success with your business.  Entrepreneurs rule!!
