Topic: New Gear Day

I'm in the process of putting together, bit by bit, sort of a "poor man's Joe B. rig."  Started back in December with the JB Signature Epi Goldtop (truly an amazing bargain).  I recently picked up the new Dunlop JBF3 Fuzz Face, and today I stumbled across a used Marshall Class 5 in near-mint condition in my favorite local shop.  I was so jazzed at finding one of these in this condition (previous owner took good care of his stuff, and had traded it plus a nice Gibson Firebird to help finance the purchase of a Custom Shop Telecaster) that I splurged a bit and bought a Fulltone Supa-Trem as well.  Next on the to-do list is a reverb pedal.  I don't think I'll need the Pork Loin, as I'm pretty sure my Fulltone PlimSoul can cover that territory (as well as the Tube Screamer stuff).  And for delays I've got the marvelous Wampler Faux Tape Echo.  Almost there...    wink

Even reverb-less (for now), I'm planning on having a blast the rest of the weekend playing around with the new amp and pedal.  Not going to get within light years of Joe's tones, of course, but maybe close enough for a strictly-in-front-of-the-mirror hobbyist...    big_smile

Nice rig - and great backstory too.

I've got the T-Rex Room-Mate tube reverb pedal.  Not cheap, but a nice, warm reverb which I tend to use over my delay pedal actually, to add ambience to my live playing.

You are going to have to upload some clips of how that setup sounds...  wink

Awesome.
I really want one of the Class 5 Heads....

What kinda reverb are you thinking of?
Any Delay? DD-3 really is great.

I thought Joe sounded great on his Class 5 in the Marshall promo video and the RAH bus interview, so I've wanted my own for awhile.  Might still wind up getting the head version when they finally hit the stores (if they come out with one in red, I'm doomed   wink  ), but I think they may start out a little pricey compared to the combo...

No real front-runner yet.  The new one from TC Electronic (Hall of Fame, I think?) sounds pretty cool in the demos, as do the Digitech Hardwire RV-7 and the Wampler Faux Spring Reverb.  I really like the way the Hardwire pedals are built, and I have been very pleased with my Wamplers.  I'll also give the Boss a good look, of course.  If it's good enough for Joe...     cool

As I mentioned, I have a Wampler Faux Tape Echo and I love it...

Devan:  As for audio clips, well...I'll get back to you on that after I read the headline about hell freezing over...     big_smile
