Topic: Plexiglass in front of the amps

We were sitting up in the nosebleeds in Toronto but were able before the show to walk up to the stage to check out the setup and were intigued by this. I've been to shows where the drums have plexiglass in front of them but I don't recall ever seing it in front of the guitar and bass amps.Also noticed that the amps were not live miked. My son is enrolled in an "entertainment technology" program and we were wondering about these aspects of the bands setup.Incidently the sound up in the 3d balcony was superb,especially Joe's acoustic solo,absolutely pristine .

I know joe uses these Palmer Speaker Simulators through his PA, I don't recall if he used mics or not, but the glass is there so the guitar sound doesn't kill the front row.

I can say that the Palmer PDI-09 is killer.  I've been running my Vox thru that direct to the PA and have been Loving my tone.

That makes sense,but that raises another question. My next show will be at the Fox in Detroit in Oct. I'm curious how the sound is up front with this setup and the pa speakers off to the sides. I've been to other shows of other artists where I've been in the first couple of rows and the sound was lacking whereas people that sat further back and had the benefit of the pa said the sound was great.I guess what I'm asking is if the sound coming from the amps still comes through to the people in the front rows.

I'm sorry, it's probably the PDI-09

I was front row for the Green Bay show and row 7 for the milwaukee show.

Joe has these small flat PA monitors that are on stage pointed out at the audience... VERY superb. Not too loud, and broadcast a well balanced frequency of EVERYTHING. The keyboard was a little low, but everything else was crystal clear at a theatre volume.  smile
I'm not sure who makes these flat PA cabinets that put out the sound. Joe stands on them quite a bit... but they work SO good.

You will be satisfied with the sound even if you're up front.


****What row did you get at the FOX? Closest I could get was row Y! and I just got the email about presale tickets.
I might have hunt down closer tickets on CraigsList.

Whoa! I had no idea tickets were on sale. I thought they were going on sale this Thurs.,didn't know anything about a presale. Bummer! How do you get in on the presale? Found out how to get in on the presale,row x was available which really sucks. I had planned on buying them Thurs. when they went on sale.  sad
