Topic: Tone Capulators

I'm wanting to help a friend of mine with his Telecaster he's got a tone controll that is very muddy when rolled completely down (woman tone of sorts) it also has some volume loss when doing this.  He has a .47uF cap in there currently and I've suggested a .22uF cap in place of the stock one.  Does anybody have an opinion about Telecaster or single coil pickups that I should use something different?

Re: Tone Capulators

Well tried it on my dads Tele and I really didn't like it.  But I'm a strat guy.  So guess I'll put a paper and oil cap in at some point to see if it makes a difference before I tell my friend about his.

Re: Tone Capulators

I like 0.33uf for single coils ..and also 50's wiring for strat's and tele's (but I'm weird!).

Re: Tone Capulators

I've done 50's wiring on my strat and liked it.  Last night I did a few things to that telecaster trying to find a cool tone and did 50's wirng.  Not enough change for what I was after.  I think the telecaster is up for a major parts overhall.  No more cheap stuff.  Pickups are custom shop Nocaster 51 and a twisted tele neck pickup 4 way switch.
