Topic: Dallas, TX

Well, I'm going to see Joe Bonamassa in Dallas, TX on Feb. 26 for the first time since 2002, that's the last time I've seen him. I've heard most of his albums, and have the Albert Hall DVD. How long has he been playing on this current tour, and does he have an opening act? Please let me know, thanks.

Re: Dallas, TX

His current tour begins today (Feb. 17) and he usually does not have an opening act. His shows always start at the scheduled time as well - don't be late!

Re: Dallas, TX

I will be at the Dallas show as well.  Looking forward to it as this will be my first time to see him live.  Does anyone know if they allow cameras at his concerts?  Thanks!

My Hubby & I are going too.

It has been a year since we have seen Joe! Can't Wait!

I love that the venue is somewhat close to Deep Ellum.
We will be hanging out in "DE" before the show and maybe after too  wink

Joe allows cameras. I have a friend that went to the last concert in Dallas and cameras were allowed then so I wouldn't expect anything different.

My experience with concerts that say no cameras, is that they always seem to get in anyway.

Check out the sticky at the head of this topic for tips about cameras. Might save some embarrassing moment. Good luck and enjoy!

Re: Dallas, TX

Cameras have been allowed at all three shows i attended this weekend, but you will be asked to turn off your flash.

Re: Dallas, TX

Couldn't find the "sticky" mentioned about camera policy, but I know most shows you can take them with no flash usage.  Just checking beforehand....

Re: Dallas, TX

How long do his shows typically last?  If there is no opening act, and he starts at 8:00, does he play 2 hours, 4 hours, 3...??   Thanks

Dave

Re: Dallas, TX

His show lasts a bit over two hours. Seems like two minutes.

Re: Dallas, TX

I have meant to go see Joe when he has played in Dallas before but just never made it,but will be there at the show tomorrow night.Have most of Joe's albums and a couple of DVDs but nothing is like the live experience.

hopefully they let me take my camera in.It's not a pocket camera but also not a SLR with extra lenses.Have had no problems at any other shows I have been to unless they were just not alllowing cameras at all.

I'll will be down in the middle in the orchestra pit on the 14th row, wearing a Frank Marino shirt.

Re: Dallas, TX

We went t the Albuquerque show on Wednesday and they allowed cameras just no flash.  I heard he also allow video/audio as well.  Just wants us all to spread the good news I guess.  Refreshing to see these days.

I had a hassle there.  I handled it.  Security handled it.  We compromised.  I was on the floor. They thought it was video when I was still shooting.  Egregious behavior with cameras will cause a hassle, and it is not just with flashes.  Be good and it will be alright. I film some, I snap some, but not entire shows.  Balconies are your friends for photos!

Sounds like a great Dallas time tonight for y'all!

Jim Suhler posted on FB that he's spending his first free Sat. night at home after two months touring in the Antipodes with GT, attending Joe's show.

Our own Jim M is also there....y'all have a great show down there in Texas!  wink

Re: Dallas, TX

What a show! 3000 happy people. Great sound!
Joe seemed to be having good time. Masterful as always.
Carmine, fabulous..."Young Man Blues"...incredible.
Rick, beautiful & interesting nuances to each song.
Tal, Wow! massive sound. Loved it.
Slow Train blew me away!
I saw Jim Suhler before the show and told him I wanted Joe to sign Tijuana Bible. Jim said at the time he recorded the song "Deep Water Lullaby", Joe was sick but did a great job. Jim said that Joe was the only person he could think of that could do the beautful, slow melody. Jim wanted to pay him but Joe refused.
When I saw Joe after the show, I told him what Jim had said. Joe told me "Jim is like family, I've know Jim for 10 years, I would never take any money and that cameo is one of my favorites." he also said that Jim and George Thorogood were the only bands that took an interest in him when he was still traveling around in a passenger van.
Thanks for a fantastic evening!
Happy Trails Y'all!
Lori

Re: Dallas, TX

Very nice! So, did you get the TJ Bible signed? That is a typically nice thing with Jim Suhler. Thanks for the prompt review. The show rolls on, stand by Okies.

Re: Dallas, TX

Yes, I got Tijuana Bible signed, which is so cool because I have the signatures of Jim, Shawn (keyboard) & Andy (whose tattoo is on the back)

Forgot to get John Henry signed roll

And I saw Jim sitting on the loading dock and wished that I had called him over so I could get a photo with both he & Joe, but the gerbils in my head were spinning out of control especially when Joe asked me about a certain wine!

My husband, Sully was taking photos the whole time and never got to meet Joe!

I think we need to go to more Joe concerts so we can get the whole "meet & greet" thing down  wink
