Topic: Robin Trower at Variety Playhouse in Atlanta, GA February 5th

A sold out show last night. A cross-section of ages ranging from kids to parents who obviously came of age during the seventies.

I have been seeing this guy for a quarter of a century now. At sixty-five years of age he still brings it. He covered the whole gamut of his career. Naturally half of the Bridge of Sighs album was performed as it was his landmark album. Robin definitely is the essence of British Blues and his playing still speaks volumes.

It's amazing. To have been following this guy since I was a teen-ager and to see that he can still bring it speaks a great deal of his catalog of music. Robin isnt a golden oldies act. His music is still vital today as it was then.

If you are a fan, see him when he is in your area.

can't believe we missed this one, I told son and it landed on deaf ears that we might not have a chance to see him again. I was sick with the crud and we also wanted to watch the UA basketball game that was a late afternoon start. Not exactly an even trade-out.
I only saw him once before, the Broken Barricades tour, and did not know who he was at that time. yes, we were 3 sheets in the wind so not much is remembered from that concert. He is definitely one of my favorites and yes his music has stood the test of time. maybe next time around.

The Broken Barricades tour? Jesus, that's going back a bit and predates all his solo stuff.

Kenny, that's what happens when you are old as dirt. I finally had to put "my concerts" on an excel spreadsheet.

Hey Tres, great minds (or lost minds) think alike. I've had my concerts on a spreadsheet for years, dating back to 1971. Still have 95% of the ticket stubs too.

hey, you are as old as me, or close. My ticket stubs are all gone except for one Jeff Beck, but it is great to look back and see what you paid. Do you have that LedZep stub from the Prescence tour, $8.75 here in Bham. What about the Stones on the Exile tour, $6.50 for them and opening act Stevie Wonder. wink
That would be another good topic, your concerts from the 60's and 70's that were crazy cheap.

Jimi Hendrix Experience, $6.50.  lol A lot of money to a poor E3 swabbie.

Rick, I thought about you yesterday, your concerts and what that would look like on a spreadsheet. I'm thinking if you had one and printed it out it would probably kill a whole tree. lol
Seems like everybody back then was $5, $6 or $7 max, what a massive amount of music we got to see for such little money. It was a real blessing in high school when full time work was not available.

off topic, I'll stop reminiscing now.

I've been following him for 30 plus years, since his first show in Atlanta,at a place called Richards IIRC,,Piedmont and Monroe,,this guy has still got it,,and his amps never sounded so sweet.Place was packed, good crowd,,since it was cold outside,,Robin sat at a table that was set up inside,,now thats sincere appreciation of the fans.Highly recommended.  smile
